Red, White and Blue Mold

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2004
I made this for a 4th of July party, and it was a big flop! I'm glad I also took a tried and true dessert. As I was making, I thought I would only make it once a year, because it's very time consuming. After I unmolded it the next day, and it basically fell apart, I decided I'd never make it again. I'm giving it 2 stars because the taste was actually pretty good. But it's not worth the effort!

BBQ Dry Rub

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2004
So good! I first used this for some thick pork chops, which were good, but my husband burned them a little. First time we had grilled pork. Last night we used it with country-style pork ribs, and it was a real winner! My husband declared it the best he'd ever had and so did our neighbor. Thanks for sharing it.

Black Bean Hummus

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2004
I am crazy about this hummus! I've been making it for several months now, and never get sick of it. Not only is it delicious, it's lower in fat than other hummus recipes since there's no added oil. Thanks for sharing it!

Pita Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2004
These are great! I made a batch yesterday for a dinner party, and everyone loved them. I'm going to make more tomorrow! I recommend using the thinner pita bread as opposed to the thicker bread. I made some of each, and the thinner pita chips were far better.

Absolutely Ultimate Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2004
Great marinade that's a little different! I always use light soy sauce with less salt. We use this for chicken breasts and venison chops. The leftover grilled chicken is great the next day, sliced thin on a salad.

Banana Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2004
I made this a couple of times as a loaf of bread, but then decided to try it as muffins. I'm not sure why, but I like the muffins MUCH better! My 2 1/2 year old loves them, too.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2004
I made this tonight for dinner with friends. It was very tasty! I doubled the sauce, cut the chicken into strips before sauteing, and used half and half instead of heavy cream. I thickened the sauce with a bit of cornstarch, and served over spinach fettucine. Everyone enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!

Chocolate Wave Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2004
This is delicious!! Next time, I'll just add an extra tablespoon or two to the whole thing, and forget able the layered effect, which didn't work too well for me. And I know there'll be a next time!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2004
These are interesting "cookies". My 2 year old and I liked them, but my husband hates them. He wouldn't even finish the one he tastes. I substituted 1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon and nutmeg and added 1/4 more chocoloate chips. I probably won't make again, unless I get some rave reviews from friends that I share these with......my son and I can't possibly eat them ALL.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2004
I think I should have baked this a little longer than 40 minutes after adding the topping. It wasn't quite as firm as it should have been, but it was delicious. We ate it warm the first night, but it was even better the next day.

Lemon Ginger Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This was good, but I expected the flavor to be a bit more intense. I marinaded the shrimp for 3 hours and then sauteed them. Maybe I'll try again on the grill.

Grandma's Peach French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This was very good, but I also added 1 cup of milk to the egg mixture. (Next time, I will use 6 eggs and 1 1/2 cups of milk!) I baked it COVERED and longer than the recipe called for. My 3 year old loved it. I nice change from our traditional egg and sausage casserole.

Classy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2005
Yummy! Easy to make and chicken was very moist. Husband declared it a winner! I followed the recipe exactly, except for using 3 large breast halves. It's a keeper.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2005
Although I liked the simplicity of this recipe, my chops were rather tough. I halved the egg and bread crumb mixture, and still had lots left over that I had to throw out. I don't think I'll make this again.

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2005
These are very good. Very buttery. I used fresh coconut that I grated. (Unfortunately, my son doesn't like them, so I'll have to give most of them away so I won't eat them all!) The batch made about 30 cookies.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2005
This was excellent! I used leftover chicken, and only had 3 cups, but it was fine. Next time, I may use frozen peas instead of canned, and perhaps add a few more carrots. The biscuit dough was a little hard to handle (sticky!), but definitely worth the effort. YUM!!

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2005
My husband ate 4 sandwiches of this beef tonight....I couldn't believe it! This is very easy to make. The only change I made was to add 1 cup of water after 2-3 hours of cooking, because it looked very dry, and I was afraid it would burn.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
I really like this bread, but my husband hates it. "This is NOT your usual recipe, is it?", he asked. Granted, it doesn't taste like regular (and unhealthful) banana bread, but I like the grainy testure of whole wheat. I will make it again, but I'll probably have to eat it all by myself. Hopefully, it will freeze well. Thanks!

Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
I'm not sure what happened, but when I pulled the cake out to check it after 35 minutes, it "fell"....the middle sank. I had to bake it about 20 minutes longer. I'm giving it 3 stars, because the flavor was good, but I won't make it again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2005
This was good, but too peppery. Next time I will cut down on the white pepper at least by half. I used chicken broth instead of the water and bouillon.
