Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
I was really excitd to try these because of the lime. However, I thought these were OK. Won't make them again.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
very good. i rated it 4-star because of the potential i think it has. i did tweek the recipe though, so i cannot fairly give it a 5-star. the biggest mistake i made was to use real garlic--adding it to the onion saute. the soup was VERY garlicy. next time, i will use real garlic, however, i will just add it to the base, instead of with the onions while sauteeing. had i not done that, i think this would have been a 5-star! very good! i also added carrots, and 2 bags of shredded sharp cheddar, as i like it super cheesy.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
YUM!!! We had a huge party and I decided last minute to make these. Good idea. Everyone just thought they were grabbing a regular old oatmeal raisin cookie, but when biting into them realized it was so different and so much better! Definite 5-star. I did pop them in the freezer for 20 minutes first, and I also did add more baking soda, and will add a little more next time, as I like mine pretty plump.

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
WOW! I am super picky about spices and I do not care for many of the spices in this recipe. However, I love chai, if made right. So I decided to try making this cause I'd never know until I tried. Absolutely FABULOUS! Definitely better than some I've ordered at some coffee shops. It's the best treat on a cold night. My notes: best with milk. We made a mug of hot milk and added 2T. chai, as recipe suggests. We also found that it is wonderful making it this way, then pouring it over ice (mix the powder with the HOT milk first, then pour it all over ice, this way the powder will dissolve). We also made a chai freeze with milk and ice. Wonderful!

Amazing!!! We don't like to make it this way all the time, but tonight a good buttered veggie dish just sounded right and this was exactly what we were looking for!!

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
Pretty good! Definitely has a different flavor, but I really like it. Just make sure to cook the bacon till really crisp, so it doesn't get soggy, and it also gives it more flavor.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
Made this quite a while ago now, but never did review it. This was AWESOME. Made it for a group of friends, many of who have never liked cornbread before. Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. My husband and I like spicy though, so we added a lot more heat with some hot sauce and quite a bit of jalepeno.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
Shouldn't have made these. My husband and I have been on a health kick, but I found these and wanted to "try them". Honestly, the first day I didn't really care for them and almost gave them all away. But the next day I tried one again and LOVED it. Now I have to keep disciplining myself not to eat anymore. They are now in the freezer...where they will stay for a while. The thinner the chocolate shell, the better. Oh, and I also used them without liners. I just sprayed the muffin pan with oil and they popped right out after being in the freezer for a bit. No oily residue or taste either.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
my husband asked for a chocolate cake with raspberry filling for his birthday. this is the cake i used and here is the twist i put on it... i, too, used raspberry liqueur in place of coffee liqueur. i did two 9" rounds (next time i may even do 3), layed with raspberry jam for the filling. and i did frost it with store-bought frosting that i added raspberry jam to, to taste, then added some powdered sugar to bring it back to the right "frosting" consistancy. then i topped the cake with tons of raspberries it was DELICIOUS!!! next time i will use regular size chips, as the mini ones did not melt and left chunks throughout the cake.

Ginny's Raspberry Truffles

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
AMAZING!! I decided to make these last year for Christmas and everyone went nuts and started fighting over them. All year long I have received request after request to make these again, so I did, and the same thing happened. I even received one of the tins back with a note on it "Fill, and return, please!!" Last year I followed the recipe exactly, this year I added a hint more of each of the raspberry products and I also coated them with a hard chocolate coating, such as you would with chocolate covered strawberries. It made ALL the difference. They were 10-times better this year. I am now making these every year as gifts! I also found that the recipe only makes about 50 instead of 72, as it says.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
Really good!! I just made this for dinner and we both loved it! My only comments for personal taste...I would 1/2 the tortellini-way too much and not near enough sauce. There was only enough to merely coat the tortellini, no extra at all. I would also add a little less spinich and quite a bit more garlic. Even so, it was great as is! Definitely making this again!

Spicy Tortilla Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
Very good. I only made a few small changes...I did double the cream cheese, and I substituted a little onion powder in place of the green onions, and red bell pepper in place of the pimentos. Everyone loved these at our NYEve party!

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
"Day Before" Mashed Potatoes did not at all sound appetizing to me, but I thought I'd give it a try. We were going to do the day before thing, but ended up just making it the day of and it was awesome. Definitely the only recipe I will use for MP from now on. We had ham, so we didn't have any gravy and decided not to fuss with making any, so we had it without. I wouldn't even make gravy for it. It was awesome by itself! **Next time I may try adding a box of frozen spinach (cooked) for something different. I tried "Sally's Spinach Mashed Potatoes" on here and loved the concept, but they were somewhat bland. I think it would be really good with this recipe. I'd love to try red potatoes also.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
INCREDIBLE!!! I've always loved GBCasserole, but I always thought it tasted like soup out of a can. This was so amazing. I couldn't stop eating it! Everyone in my family said they will never make the "can" version again. And I wasn't sure about the cheese and cracker topping because I absolutely love the onions, but I actually liked this a lot better. I was shocked. I just thought I'd "try it" and it is definitely my recipe now!

Fluffy Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
Awesome!!! My mother-in-law is known for her desserts and this was, by far, the best we've had. Everyone at Thanksgiving thought it was far better than just the normal pumpkin pie. It was the perfect closure to an amazing Thanksgiving dinner.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2005
Mmmmmm. Soft and chewy and just plain delicious! Wonderful flavor, texture...all!! EDIT: Tried making these again with some of the tips from the reviews (specifically using 1 3/4 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda and only 1/2 teaspoon salt...and chilling them for 15 minutes before baking). I thought they tasted the same, but I didn't really feel like there was a difference in the rising so so many reviewer said. They were still relatively thin cookies, but equally delicious. I did cook them on parchment paper, which really helps keep them soft/chewy. They were even as delicious day 2 and still pretty good/soft (although not AS good) day 3, which is a huge plus for me!

Quick and Easy Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2005
I tried it because the recipe just sounded really good. I read the reviews and they were mixed, but I thought, eh-I'll just try it. We did not like it at all. Way too sweet and just overall not a good flavor. Will continue looking for a good cheesey bread.
