Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2014
This was great. I used 6 frozen bananas-thawed on the counter and drained of the juice-and added 3/4c. chocolate chips.

This was good, but I was not crazy about it. Everyone else said it was really good to, but not in a raving sense.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
Yummy and really great for decorating sugar cookies. Spread a base color on with the back of a spoon, then pipe on details. Sometimes a little more milk was needed also. Best if made right before decorating, as it starts to get thick and harden a bit on top as it sits. Wait to stack cookies until fully dry to the touch.

Awesome Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
This was really good for a quick pasta salad. It took a very short time to throw together. I did use my favorite Italian dressing though (Newman's Own Family Recipe Italian) and I wouldn't suggest it for this, as it's not a very zesty dressing. It's my favorite Italian for green salads, but it was too bland for pasta salad. I'd definitely use something more zesty next time. Since that's the only ingredient to flavor it, I think the success of this recipe is all in the dressing you use.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
This was yum! Though, I must not have gotten the butter hot enough (I read a review that said if it is hot and bubbly enough before adding to the egg mixture, it should thicken up great) because it was still a tad on the thin side. Delish though. We served it over broccoli eggs benedict with a side of homemade English Muffin toast. Mmmm. It does not make a lot though. It was just enough for the two of us (topping each of our English Muffins and two fried eggs). Definitely not 6 servings!

Pineapple Bacon Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
These were good, though next time I think they would be better with teryaki sauce instead of BBQ sauce to balance out the sweetness. It was a bit too sweet for our taste. We also halved the amount of BBQ sauce we put IN the burgers (so they wouldn't be too moist and fall apart) and just basted them with some more on top before grilling, then topped them with a bit more before eating.

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
These were SO good!!!! We absolutely loved them. They are definitely a different kind of waffle with the yeast, but we loved it...and such great crispy outsides!! My husband actually liked them better than our favorite buttermilk recipe we usually use! They cooked perfect in about 5 minutes on our new waffle plates for our Cusinart Griddler. The only problem we had was that I didn't read the recipe thoroughly enough and we were ready to eat, then realized they had to rise for an hour first. Eek. Well worth the wait though!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
Really good with some changes: I used 15oz beef broth and added...1/4c. soy sauce, 1/8c. worcestershire, and some garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Served them up on some French rolls. I buttered one side and sprinkled with garlic salt, added a slice of provolone to the other side and popped them under the broiler until well toasted. I also used a chuck roast (much cheaper). The key is to make sure the meat soaks in the juices for at least an hour after slicing to help tenderize!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
Eh. I didn't think these were great. I thought they were somewhat bland and kind of tough instead of chewey...and I definitely didn't overcook them. Will try another recipe next time. My favorite topping was actually probably garlic salt. (I did cinnamon sugar, garlic salt, and kosher salt). I also may do sticks next time instead of the regular pretzel shape. It would make more and would be easier for the little ones to eat.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
These turned out perfect and were really good!! Used 3 large cloves of garlic and did it on high as directed (even though I never turn mine on high) and they turned out perfect. I did end up adding much of the liquid back in after mashing up the beans because they were pretty dry without it, especially after they sit for a bit. Definitely a keeper!

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
These were really good, though I'd recommend a few things prep-wise...1-Make sure to pat the crust down with a spatula half way through baking or your crust will not be flat and will have big bubbles in it. 2-Don't roll it out too big or your cream cheese spread will not be thick enough to give pieces enough flavor (or just make another half batch of the spread...I did a jelly roll pan and the original amount spread super thin) and 3-Dice the veggies super small (pea size) and press them down into the cream cheese a bit, so they don't all fall off when serving. 4-I agree with many reviewers not to assemble the pizza until about an hour before so it doesn't get soggy. I just diced all the veggies ahead of time so they were ready to throw on when time to put it together.

We LOVED these. They're almost brownie-like. So good and didn't change a thing except omitting the optional walnuts.

Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
These were good and I am not exactly sure how to rate them because this is the first time I made them and it was also on my brand new cookware. The edges crisped up quite a bit, but I am thinking it was because my skillet is so big, that 1/4cup of batter didn't spread enough and therefore made the edges very skinny. Next time I am going to try making them on the bottom of my pans, as my cookware's cookbook suggests. Flavor-wise, they were okay. Nothing great, but good. I need to try them again to give them another chance before I'll adjust the rating more.

Antipasto Squares

I thought these were really good, but not absolutely great. However everyone else at our party was loving them. I have to say, the crescent roll sheets (instead of the divided rolls) are so awesome for recipes like this!

Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
This was one of the most tender meats ever!!! De-lish!!! I only had a 2.5lb. cut of shoulder, but kept the 10 serving measurements for all of the other ingredients (except the cinnamon-I halved that) since a lot of people said they doubled the spices. We thew in some BBQ sauce for pulled pork sandwiches one night and made enchiladas the next night with refried beans, the meat, cheese and enchilada sauce and they were delish. I will definitely be using this from now on for my pulled pork and I want to try chicken soon!

Avocado Feta Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
Oh my word is this good!!!! I made it exactly as written (except for using onion powder in place of fresh onion and 1tsp. dried parsley and 1tsp. dried oregano) and my husband and I are about to eat the entire thing instead of sharing with friends tonight!! Addicting! Although I'd definitely say this serves 4, maybe 6, but definitely not 12. I'd say that scaling it to 18 is perfect for 6 people. Also-I cut the garlic in half, as it always seems way too garlicy.
