Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Batter was too thick and heavy. I added more milk to thin the batter and sugar to sweeten. Cooked up thinner and lighter. Very good.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
Next time: (1) add about 2 tbs more of butter to crust b/c it was kind of dry for my liking, (2) don't let the vanilla and flour mix b/c the clumps are tough to get out, (3) make sure all ingredients are room temp. All in all, my tasted good, but it was kind of clumpy. Oh yeah, it split one time in the center. I didn't think that I over mixed, but this was my first go at cheesecake.

Garlic Cheese Grits with Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
Fantastic! I made the shrimp and sauce almost exactly, just added (1)tbs more of butter and EVOO and +2 more cloves of garlic. For the grits: added a pinch of cheddar and about 2oz. of cream cheese. Excellent.

Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
Only let it marinate for 1hr but turned out great. Also, I recommend preparing the sauce separately in a small saucepan heated through, adding approx. 2tbs extra of brown sugar and about 1tbs of honey serving the pork over rice, covered with the sauce. Probably the best teriyaki sauce I've had.

Sweet and Sour Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
I added a bit of worcesershire, 1/2 c sauteed onions and green bell pepper. The sauce was outstanding, my fav. on any meatloaf to date. Also, for more texture bake the meatloaf on a roasting pan, not in the loaf pan, that has slots that allow it to drain the fat. It gives you those really good end pieces. Also, good tip about forming the swell to hold the sauce.

One Pot Chili

Best I've had to date. It's a really traditional, clean flavor.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
Instead of 1 of the cans of whole tomatoes, I used 14oz stewed tomatoes and 14oz can diced or chopped tomatoes. I also added little smoked sausage and bell pepper. Also, it needed about 2T white sugar and 1T Worcestershire sauce . Blend after cooking for smooth texture. If not, just leave it chunky. This is, by far, the best marinara sauce.

Krista's Sticky Honey Garlic Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
This tastes very near a sweet-honey chicken ordered at a Chinese restaurant. Changes I made: I put about 1/3 cup of honey, rather than 5tbs. Probably should have added a bit more cornstarch to thicken, but the taste was spot on for what I was going for.
