Potato Dumplings with Bacon and Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2006
These are SO yummy and flavorful. Really not too difficult, just a little time consuming as mentioned. They're not exactly for someone on a low fat or "healthy" diet, but they're an excellent addition to any type of warm, home cooked meal.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
I have no idea what the heck I did wrong. I was really excited to try these and I am not a novice cook by any means, especially when it comes to brownies, cakes, cookies, etc. I followed the recipe exactly, and it was incredibly, incredibly dry when I put it in my 9x13 pan. It came out in a similar fashion... dry, exceedingly crumbly, and weird tasting. I'm really disappointed, because I was looking forward to these brownies.

I added fresh chopped rosemary and basil leaves and it tasted great!

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Yum! I thought this was great - I followed the suggested "no lump" method though rather than what is stated. I whisked together the dry ingredients, then added the milk, then heated until thick. So good! And very easy. I added raspberries as well and mixed them in.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
Yummm... I made these for a late dinner tonight, and they were great for breakfast cravings. Quick and easy, and I made exactly as-is except I left out the salt. Highly, highly recommended.

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2006
Even though it always bothers me when people say "Oh I loved it!" yet they made a bunch of changes, I'm going to do something similar. I added extra potatoes (on accident; I peeled too many), added extra cheese (I LOVE CHEESE), and cooked the vegetables for some extra time because I don't like to chew my soup. It was so cheesy and excellent!

Miso Soup

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Yum! My husband and I first had miso soup a few weeks ago at a new Japanese restaurant, and we decided to see about making some. This was very easy, although the ingredients took a little bit of work to find (and miso is expensive!) My husband loved this soup - he called it chicken noodle soup for grown-ups. Excellent stuff!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
Yum! I love this recipe. It is easy to follow and easily customizable. I always look forward to making this pot pie. I typically add some sage, thyme, and minced fresh garlic to the vegetables as they simmer.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
I've made these about 10 times now, and I was looking at the recipe to make them tonight and realized I needed to rate them! They're delicously awesome and amazing, and they can be altered in many ways safely. (i.e. I use wheat flour, chocolate pudding mix, and Smart Balance instead of butter and they're AMAZING.)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
Very yummy! I used only 2.5 cups of flour and they turned out perfect. They started to feel a little dry so I didn't add the last half cup. Other than that, they're excellent! I would recommend using plenty of actual vanilla though, not the fake extract. Yum!

Authentic Enchiladas Verdes

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
One word - AWESOME. I've been living in Texas for two years but have been too afraid to even try green enchiladas, but for some reason this recipe just struck me as sounding delicious so I made it myself. They are incredible! The only change I would make next time is to add the broth to the salsa a little at a time to make sure it doesn't get too runny. It was hot, spicy, and the queso fresco was the perfect touch.

Chocolate Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
I followed this recipe exactly; used the 5 oz of evaporated milk and exact directions. However, it turned out the consistency of molasses, even after chilling in the fridge for 24 hours and beating it in my KitchenAid mixer for 20 minutes while it was hot. Great fudge taste, but it sadly never turned into fudge.

Breaded, Fried, Softly Spiced Tofu

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Very good! It is a great way to use up tofu if you don't normally have it around and aren't familiar with cooking with it. I used about a half inch of oil to get them closer to deep fried. I also used chicken broth because I'm not a vegan or anything and I dipped them in soy sauce. =) They were great!

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

This soup was absolutely amazing! I added extra beef bouillon for a more beefy flavor, and it turned out really nicely. This soup is even better the next day, too!

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2006
Yum! I used the "Taco Seasoning I" recipe for the taco seasoning and use homemade salsa and it was AWESOME with this. I will definitely make this again. We cut it up and put it in tortillas with avocado and sour cream - YUM! Thanks for a great easy recipe!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
All I can say is YUM! I'm so skeptical about sugar cookies, but I was craving some sweets and I didn't have any chocolate chips. These went way beyond my expectations, and I'm going to give the recipe to my mom. They were excellent!

Whole-Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
Very good recipe, even though I made with applesauce and whole wheat flour (non-pastry flour). They still turned out wonderful! I also used 2/3 of the sugar and 1 cup chocolate chips and they were great. And you don't feel *quite* as guilty after eating 3 of them! =)

Cranberry Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
Wow! My husband (who never cooks) made these for me for a surprise dinner, and he said they were very, very easy to make. They turned out SO well, and the recipe doesn't need a thing changed. He served it with fresh asparagus and boiled red potatoes, and it was perfect. I would suggest using a high-quality pork chop though.

Awesome stuff! It sounds like such an odd combination for a Northerner like me, but this is great. I normally add extra bacon though.. you can never add too much. =)

Amazing! I used corn tortillas as suggested (and less chicken + more black beans) and it was superb. I will most definitely make this again. Yum!
