Originally from the East Coast I've lived in Hawaii 6 years. Farmers markets are great. I'm exposed to so many different types of fruits and vegetables it's exciting. I have so much to learn about the local way and Asian style cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Wild Pohole (Hawaiian Ferns),King Oyster Mushrooms,Long beans,Taro root just to name a few.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I really don't have traditions only because I don't want to get locked into one event or type of cooking. If this was to happen I may miss out out something new and exciting. A good example of tradition are the foods prepared for the Chinese New Year.. Now that is "Tradition" WOW !!!!
My cooking triumphs
Learning to prepare the Pohole or taro root. Cooking with banana leaves or the ti plant. All a challenge but I just go out in the yard and gather what I need example lemon grass.
My cooking tragedies
I never forgot 17 years old trying to prepare stove top stuffing from a box. It called for a cup of water but my measuring cup held two.In it went never thinking this cup was larger than usual. What did I get mushy thick water. What a disaster (LOL)
