Grandmother's Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 13, 2012
THE BEST pound cake I've ever had!!!!! Wow! I did add vanilla, and reduced baking time to 325, since I was using a dark bundt pan. Buttered the pan, then coated with sugar, so it made the crust divine. Increased the cooking time to 1hr25min since I had reduced temp. It is dense, moist and has an amazing flavor. LOVE IT!!!!

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
Blissful. Divine. Supurb. I really liked it. A lot. Can you tell? I'll never make any other chocolate cake again. This was rich, fudgey, dense, moist and cut so easily and cleanly, which was really nice for serving it. I used the Cream Cheese Frosting II recipe (hands down the best frosting I've ever tasted), which is also found here on Allrecipes. I'd give this more than 5 stars if I could! (I DID double the amount of chocolate that the recipe calls for!)

Bliss. Hands down, the BEST frosting, I've ever tasted. Easy to make, and just.... wow. Divine stuff. I made it for the Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake recipe found here on Allrecipes. I can't rave about it enough. It is just the best.

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
This recipe is "OK", but certainly not great. I'm not sure why in the world you'd ever want to make it as a drop cookie. It stays exactly in the shape you dropped it in - which just seems wrong for a shortbread. I didn't think it was a world beater, by any stretch of the imagination. I won't make this recipe again.

Pecan Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Cream Cheese and Broccoli

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
Fabulous. Will definitely make again. Did not follow recipe exactly, but made the following changes: - no pimento + walnuts instead of pecans - did not roll in bread crumbs or use egg + added 3 slices of turkey bacon to sauce, cooked, chopped +added a little heavy cream to remaining sauce to thin it to go over top - made 5 chicken breasts instead of 8 (didn't seem like there would have been enough filling for 8) + baked for 45 minutes

AWESOME!!! Our new favorite biscuits! And so easy to make, too. I didn't have buttermilk, so substituted milk/vinegar and they were still excellent. Highly recommended!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

My cookies didn't look NEARLY as nice as any of the photos of this recipe. My first thought when I took the first batch out of the oven was that I was going to give it a bad review because they looked so...well...not pretty! But as soon as I tasted them I knew it was a 5 star recipe!!!!! I think these might be the best cookies I've ever made! I skipped the glaze (too much trouble) and discovered that by NO stretch of the imagination could you get 36 cookies if you rolled the dough into 1 1/2 inch balls. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. BUT.... I got about 20 cookies from the recipe (dough rolled into 1+ inch balls) and they are so good that I'm not complaining. I'll definitely make this again! FABULOUS!!!!!!!! (I'd give it more than 5 stars if that was an option!)

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
This was *THE* most gorgeous dessert I've ever personally made. It came out looking like I had spent a gazillion dollars on it at some fancy bakery -- well, until I tried to cut through the crunchy apples!!!! I WISH I had seen the review that suggested to cook them first, because they DEFINITELY need it!!! Also, I think two medium/largish apples would be plenty. Six is WAY too many apples -- and I only used 4 biggish ones, and that was too many. I will definitely try this again, but I think I might try it with my home canned peaches, or maybe pears, next time. It was absolutely delicious -- just very hard to cut because of the apples. If I do the apples again, I know a lot more about how I would do it this time! The bottom crust and the cream cheese part was to die for!!!!! (***UPDATE*** I made this a second time with pears -- two cans canned pear halves, I sliced them -- and it was WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than with apples! I've revised my version of the recipe to be PEAR Bavarian Torte. Try the pears, you'll be delighted!!!)

Pumpkin Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2004
Absolutely, positively FANTASTIC!!! I substituted 1 1/2 c. of the flour with whole wheat flour. Also, I just made it into 2 regular size loaves, as I didn't have the size pans the recipe mentioned. I couldn't believe how good this was. My family devoured nearly an entire loaf in one evening! Will definitely make this one again and again!

WOW!!!! This was so UNBELIEVABLY good!!!!!!!!!! A HUGE hit with my entire family, who normally does not even comment on what they are served. Rave reviews from my husband and kids! Will definitely make again. Omitted the parsley (didn't have any) and used chicken boullion with water in place of the stock. It was quite exceptional!!!
