About this Cook
My Mom has always been an excellent cook, and I have picked up a lot of little trick over the years to make good food taste better. Started making my own recipes and cooking for myself when I moved away to college, and now cook a few times a week for me and my boyfriend. Love to experiment and try new foods, and both of us are foodies, so the food has to be good.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try to cook dished better than my favorite restaurants. I find basic recipes, decide which ingredients out of the different ones I think I will like together, and combine up to four or five recipes with more tweaks to make my own creations. So far everyone will take my cooking over any other options, including going to the actual restaurant itself.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Me and my Mom go all out for the holidays, mainly cooking the entire dinner for over 40 people ourselves. I love to hear the compliments everyone gives us and how our food is what they look forward to every year for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
This past year I cooked all of Thanksgiving dinner for myself, and everything came out perfect. Take that Turkey! I even had time to wash the dishes and take a quick shower before the guests arrived.
My cooking tragedies
First apartment, my roommate and I decided to try out the oven and bake some cookies. I checked on them one minute and they were still raw. Three minutes later I checked and they were charcoal black. We tossed them at the dumpsters, and they left a mark and didn't break. And we had to deal with the apartment smelling burnt for a few days.

Sauteed Portobellos and Spinach
Excellent dish, although I tweaked it some. One of the best spinach dishes I have had. First I sauteed the mushrooms (which I just used regular sliced mushrooms for the store) a minute or two first before everything else so as not to overcook the spinach. Then I add enough fresh baby spinach to cover the entire skillet, than added the dried basil, kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder instead of clove garlic. When that reduced down, I added about 1/4c of chicken broth and cooked for a few minutes. Stirred in the Parmesan cheese and served. Was amazing, even my boyfriend, who hates spinach, loved it. Definitely recommend this twist for those who don't like the flavor wine sometimes gives to food.
