Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
This is an absolutely WONDERFUL recipe. So easy to make, and so good! I used regular milk instead of buttermilk, added a little extra vanilla, added some orange peel and cut back on the raisins (not a huge raisin fan) and they turned out quite lovely. Very moist and a nice flavor. Really great recipe, will definitely be using it again soon!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
This was the first bread recipe I've made by hand (I've used a bread machine a couple times with mediocre results). Oh my goodness! So good! Light, moist and delicious. I want to eat the whole loaf. I'll be making this recipe again and again.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
So flippin' good! I've never made pancakes from scratch before and these just blew mix out of the water. I fried them in butter instead of oil just because that's my preference. I served them with the cinnamon syrup that you can find on this site. Delicious and fluffy! Will definitely make again. My husband gobbled them up!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
LOVE! This is a recipe I will make again and again. I added a couple ingredients just for my personal taste (onion, garlic and a splash of vinegar) but even written as is this is a great recipe. I tried it both with and without pepperjack cheese. Both ways are pretty awesome. I love this recipe so much that I plan on making it again tomorrow!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
These are the only biscuits I make! Perfect taste and texture; good for sweet OR savory meals! Tastes just as good with honey butter as it does with gravy and sausage.

Honey Butter

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
3:1 honey-to-butter ratio has always been my preference. Sweet enough to taste the honey, but enough butter to really get that salty kick. Love it!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
These cookies are PHENOMENAL! They taste great as is but I think with a little alteration you could come up with a great variety of different flavors. Omit cinnamon in the sugar, put lemon extract in instead of vanilla and you've got a yummy, chewy lemon cookie! Add almond extract instead of vanilla and put a piece of chocolate on top (omitting cinnamon sugar coating) and there's a lovely cookie dying to be eaten. I can't wait to experiment with this recipe!

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
Using the instructions that one of the other members posted for using a stand mixer, these are FANTASTIC! I put cream cheese frosting on mine instead and mmm, mmm, mmm! They got rave reviews from the guys in my household. One thing I'll probably do next time is make them bigger. Also, there's no way you could fit 24 in a 9x13 pan. I could only fit 8.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
Quick, easy, delicious! I didn't have any parsley and I added a little black pepper because that's how hubby and I like our alfredo. Even before I added the pepper, though, the sauce was delicious! I made sure to stir it often while it cooked to get all the clumps out. It got a bit too thick for my liking so I added a little milk to thin it out. Served over fettuccine noodles with grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. Delish!

Love, love, LOVE these cookies! I haven't made them myself, but my mother has made them several times and we can't get enough of them. They taste even better the next day!

The Best Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
I never made chili before this but man oh man is it ever good! I made it with turkey the first time, beef the second. The third time I made it with both chunks of beef and ground beef. So delicious! Tastes awesome with a little cheddar cheese on top and some garlic toast on the side.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
This recipe is SO easy to make, I love it. It's fine as is, but I love to add a heaping amount of garlic powder to it. It gives the pizza a very nice flavor. Tastes good with regular sauce as well as BBQ sauce (try it!). And you can't beat how quick it is. From start to finish, including time taken to wash, cut, and saute some veggies as well as shredding my fresh mozzarella, it took less than 80 minutes. So good, I'm about to make some right now!

Gooey Butter Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2003
Followed the recipe to the 'T', but for some reason it got overdone (baked for 45 minutes at 350). It still tastes DELICIOUS, but next time I'll try decreasing my baking time to 40 minutes.

Chicken and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
As is, I don't think this soup would have nearly enough flavor for my taste. I made some substitutions that made it turn out AWESOME, although more of a stew than a soup. First, after I added the onion I also added about a tablespoon of minced garlic. I did not add water, I added chicken broth. And since I had it in my fridge and it needed to be used, I added some heavy cream. I wanted a stew-y consistency so I mixed some corn starch with the cream to thicken the soup up. Finally, I added just a little rosemary. The rosemary threw me over the moon.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
Pretty good! A bit too much basil for my taste, but definitely a good recipe. I think next time I make it, I'll reduce the amount of basil and add a couple cloves of minced garlic. This seems like a recipe you can play with a lot and get really good results.

Chicken with Quinoa and Veggies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
This recipe was the first time I tried quinoa or cooking with feta cheese. I didn't have garlic scapes so I just used a couple cloves of minced garlic. Very tasty! I didn't like the texture of the quinoa but the taste was good. The chicken and veggie mixture also tastes amazing with mashed potatoes. I imagine rice or pasta would also make great sides. I will definitely make this again.

Chicken and Peppers with Balsamic Vinegar

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
DELICIOUS! The 4 stars is only because the cooking time is a bit off. The veggies need minimal precooking since you're going to cook them with the chicken and vinegar for 20 minutes anyway. I ended up cooking the chicken full-through, setting aside, cooking the veggies to tenderness, adding all the rest of the ingredients and chicken to them and cooking about 10 minutes until the chicken was heated through. Next time, I'm going to try grilling the chicken and veggies in order to cut some calories. Overall, a wonderful dish that has given me reason to love vinegar!

Oatmeal Crispies I

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
These are REALLY delicious, but I'm giving them 4 stars based on the instructions being a bit vague. "Shape into long rolls"? How long? How big should they be? How many rolls? I didn't know, so I just guessed. I guessed wrong and just made one 2 1/2' long log, so I ended up with bigger, chewier cookies. DELICIOUS, but not crispy. Next time, I would definitely divide the dough into two 2.5' logs and I imagine it'll go better. Also, be sure to place the cookies 2-3" apart or they'll stick together. But really, even messing up the size of the cookies... it doesn't matter that much. You still end up with a delicious, SUPER easy to make cookie. I used pecans instead of walnuts since it's what I had on hand, and I chopped them very finely so they blended in with the cookies instead of standing out.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
One of my favorite and most-used recipes! As is, it's really good and I give it 4 stars, but I normally make a few changes to send it over the edge to 5. First up, I add a small onion, diced finely. Then I add 4 or 5 strips of cooked and crumbled bacon. With these two additions, this recipe is out of this world.
