I'd only eaten chili twice before making this (yes, I'm wierd). I've made it three times already! It's absolutely delicious. I do add about 3 cups total of beef bouillion, which helps with the thickness and also seems to blend the flavors. My husband and I don't care for red peppers, so we leave it out; and using a bottle of bacon bits can save time if needed.
I'd warned my husband that it wasn't too hot, and offered to spice it up. He found it unnecessary and realized it was "flavorful and complex" that he was after, not actually "hot". And this recipe has it to spare!
