Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I made this cake twice in a week. The first time was the basic yellow cake. Followed the recipe exactly....it was good but not great. Thought a little more sugar would have been good. Second time tried the chocolate version with a few changes...added 2 cups of white sugar & replaced the milk with buttermilk & sifted the flour, sugar, baking powder & cocoa together twice. Loved the chocolate cake a whole lot more!! Next time will follow these changes for the yellow cake too. All in all a good recipe....way better than the boxed one! Thanks for sharing.

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
Loved the mmmmm... banana flavor in these pancakes!! Well the changes I made (because I wanted to use up the ingredients that I already have) were: used 1 cup Bisquick Heart Smart mix instead of All Purpose Flour 1/4 cup Egg beaters in place of eggs (being cholestrol savvy!) 1 Banana instead of 2...mashed it up really really well. And like some reviewer suggested I sifted the flour...the pancakes were truly wonderful...not at all gooey or anything in the middle....will definitely be making these again! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
I gave this recipe 3 stars only because of the fact that I had a tough time rolling them inspite of using confectioners sugar to dust. The dough became soft too quick & I found it took too much effort to have the cut outs. Maybe I did something wrong, no idea since I followed the recipe to the T. The taste was good, no complaints there. I'll be making these for drop cookies, definitely not for cut outs.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
These came out really good & taste great! I did add half a cup of raisins and half a cup of walnuts. Yummm!! I refrigerated the dough overnight & it was easy to work with the next day. This recipe will be for keeps! Thanks for sharing.

Can't Tell They're Low-fat Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2004
A pretty good low fat recipe. Reading the other reviews i used applesauce instead of the prunes & added an extra tbsp of cocoa. And it did turn out good with the whole wheat flour (of which i was very skeptical). I would use a little less sugar next time, maybe 3/4 of a cup. Adding 1/4 cup of nuts (walnuts) does give it an interesting twist. And i also added egg substitute instead of the eggs. Overall i was very happy with the results. Will definitely make them again. Thanks Roberta.

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2004
Excellent, excellent banana bread ever!! The pineapple, flaked coconut & cherries give it a great texture & taste. I made this like four times already. Tried to cut back some oil to make it a bit healthier, but i would suggest to make it as directed. Although i did use the egg substitute....that's ok. Again a wonderful recipe. Thanks a lot Saundra
