Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Yum! Didn't have honey, so substituted 1 tbs corn syrup and added vanilla and almonds. Used a little more than 2 cups oats based on other reviews. Also, put cookie sheet of granola in a warm oven (turned off) for about 20 minutes. Tasty and easy peasy-thanks!!

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I made these with 2 cups rice cereal, 1 cup mini chocolate chips, and 1 cup with a combination of slivered almonds, heath toffee bits, and mini m&m's (cleaning out pantry). This wasn't the healthiest version, but they were yummy! I used a large jelly roll pan and sliced them with a pizza cutter when they came out. The rice cereal gave them a nice crunch. I look forward to making again with wheat germ and flax seed for a healthier version. Can't go wrong with these!

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2005
These were good! My 3 year old son and I made these this afernoon and sent them over to a new neighbor. The streusel topping adds a bakery taste and look, and the apples are a nice addition to a favorite bread in this house...pumpkin spice. Thanks Jan!

Berry Trifle

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
Just took this to a barbecue and got rave reviews and everyone yummed it up. Left out the liqueur as we had lots of kids eating it. Looks pretty and tastes yummy and makes a nice big bowl. I used Sarah Lee's frozen pound cake and cheesecake pudding per other reviewers and did 2 layers of cake and berries with the custard on top. So easy to make! Thanks Iron Chef!

Black Forest Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2004
I used 1 cup butter as suggested by other reviewers and still had some dry cake mix that didn't melt after baking this. My guests thought it was yummy--the parts where the butter/cake mix did incorporate tasted like a brownie and the chocolate and cherry combo was good. Next time I would omit the walnuts--too many tastes going on. Not sure if I'd make this one again.

Chicken Tortilla Soup III

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
I served this with salad and rolls and it was a big hit! Filling, satisfying soup that looks really nice--very creamy. Instead of the margarine, I sauted my onion/garlic in 1 tbs.butter and some olive oil and turned out fine. Omitted the cilantro (my salsa had it already) and added 1 can whole kernel corn (thanks to previous posts). I am already planning to make this next weekend for dinner guests. Delicious!

Nectarine Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2003
This was interesting....boiling the nectarines helped to get the skin off; but I then had a difficult time de-pitting them. I ended up cutting the nectarine into slices--seemed to make more sense. I liked the almond flavor, but I wish I would have added more spices--maybe nutmeg and more cinnamon on top as another reviewer mentioned. I couldn't get the middle of the pie to firm up and the consistency ended up more like cobbler. Not bad, but not a keeper for me.

Lil' Devils

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2003
These turned out really yummy!! Like the other readers, I wasn't sure they would turn out, but the cake/butter mix makes a great bar crust. With only 4 ingredients, it doesn't get any easier either! I baked them in a little bit smaller dish then 9x13 and the bars were nice and thick. My family yummed them up! Definitely a keeper recipe!!!! Thanks Susan!
