Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
Great recipe! No changes or modifications needed (although if you're watching your weight you can use plain fat free yogurt in place of the sour cream) I've made this recipe several times... scones turn out perfectly everytime! I've made lemon, cranberry orange, raspberry, blueberry, apple cinnamon and chocolate chip. Doesn't matter what you put in these.... they're all so yummy!

I have made this recipe several times, it's great! I thought I would add some vanilla and chocolate chips to the recipe the last time I made it... it was a yummy addition.

I was surprised how quick and easy this recipe is. I used 1 cup skim milk and 1 cup heavy cream for a richer flavor. Tastes great! Thanks!

Lemon Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
Great recipe.... I didn't "sour" the milk (just used regular skim milk) and added a little lemon juice. I also added an additional teaspoon of grated lemon peel. Light and fluffy... very good! I will make this again! Thanks.

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Wow! These are really good. I was a little surprised how good they are after reading all the reviews saying they are bland. I did make a few changes/additions to make these perfect... I used butter in place of the mayonaise and I added a teaspoon of dill and a tablespoon of fresh grated parmesean cheese. SO GOOD! Thank you!!!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
YUM! I decided that I wasn't about to pay more for all natural, high-fructose corn syrup free store bought granola bars. This recipe is great. I changed it up a little. I added 1/2 c. apple sauce, 1/2 c mini chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, dried cranberries and substituted 1/4c. steel cut oats for 1/4 c of the rolled oats and only used 1.5c rolled oats. I used a pizza cutter to cut them while warm.

French Baguettes

Great recipe! I made 1/2 recipe.... and made two small 6-8 inch baguettes. I followed the recipe exactly except for the egg wash. Turned out great. Mine weren't crusty on top... maybe next time I will try the egg wash? YUM!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
This recipe is good. Next time I will replace the oil with butter... it's a little blah with the oil. I used toasted pecans in place of the walnuts and left out the raisins. I made 24 cupcakes and frosted them with cinnamon cream cheese frosting. The frosting makes up for the blah this time....but next time... BUTTER!

Kay's Shortbread

I've been looking for a good shortbread recipe for awhile now. This one is simple and pretty good. A little bland but drizzle a little chocolate on top and they're perfect! Next time I may add chocolate chips to the dough.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
Great recipe. I have meade these a few times. Today I made these with Splenda (both white granulated and brown sugar)...turned out ok. Splenda gives cookies a light/fluffy texture. I prefer this recipe with natural sugar!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
Good flavor to this dough....however it didn't rise much. Maybe my error. The end result was more like breadsticks.... very yummy! I also used this dough as pizza dough. Top with sauce (spaghetti sauce mixed with a little tomatoe paste), cheese, and other toppings. VERY YUMMY! Thanks!!!

Easy Oatmeal Muffins

Good recipe. I made them low fat by replacing the milk with water and using just the whites of the egg, rather than the whole egg. I also added fresh blueberries for a little flavor, since I took most of the fat out.

A Baker's Secret for Bread Machines

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
I've been looking for a great all-purpose bread. I read other reviews and followed the advice to add a little sugar. I used olive oil in place of the lard/butter and I added 1 tsp. dill, 1/4 tsp pepper and cut the salt in half. We'll see if it turns out! I'll follow up on this review once it's done! Update: a little blah... next time I will try it with butter and add more dill.
