Strawberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Thanks, this was a great recipe! The topping did not crumble like sugar crumble topping usually does . . . I think there was too much butter . . . but it tasted great after it came out of the oven so what do I know?

Peach and Poppy Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I used strawberries instead of peaches since peaches aren't in season. The actual bread, regardless of the fruit used, tasted good, but the bread didn't rise well at all. Maybe it needed more baking soda? I also had trouble with the dough, like maybe there was too much flour.

Curry Salmon with Broccoli

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This is the best salmon dish I've ever had! I made it just as written except I used lite sour cream instead of mayonnaise. Not sure about the 6 servings--this made 10 HUGE servings. I browned the salmon in a pan and then boiled the rice and broccoli, mixed them all together, and warmed them up in the oven.

Tomato Blue Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I used 6 oz feta instead of 1/4 cup blue cheese and 1/2 cup vitamin D milk instead of the mixture of heavy cream and milk. The soup was easy and quick to make, but a little flavorless. It needed a lot of salt added to it, which I don't really like to do.

Gingerbread Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This recipe was perfect. Usually I double the cinnamon and other seasonings, but I didn't have to with this. The muffins also turned out huge and they rose perfectly. I left off the icing and ate them like muffins with butter.

My Mom's Sausage & Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I used turkey sausage instead of pork and cashews instead of almonds. It had a great flavor and was easy to make. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it's silly to make it in the oven when you can cook the whole thing much quicker on the stove top without dirtying another dish. Also, I sprinkled the nuts on last instead of cooking them with the dish and letting them get soggy.

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Thanks. These were quick and easy to make. A little dry, but I added a quarter cup of M&Ms which made it taste a lot better and made up for the dryness!

Super Moist Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I did add some sugar to this, but other than that I made it as written. The bread fell apart. The bottom and edges were burnt and the middle was not cooked, even though I left it in the oven for 20 minutes longer than the recipe called for (and my oven usually cooks things FASTER than recipes call for). The flavor of the cooked parts of the bread was actually really good, but all in all, this was a waste of money. I reall, loved the flavor and wish I could figure out a way to make this again without the burnt, undercooked parts.

Applesauce Cake IV

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
I used shredded carrots instead of raisins and nutmeg and molasses instead of cloves. I got 12 very small cupcakes out of this, but they were very goood. More like cake than muffins.

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
This was good but there was no need to put it in a slow cooker. Very easy to make.

'Adios, Turkey' Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
I used 24 oz chicken. I used 1 3/4 cups of cheese instead of two cups. I omitted the mushrooms and used extra green pepper and onion instead. It was very good and filling. Thanks for the recipe.

Oriental Cold Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
I skipped the cilantro and used green onion instead. I used regular olive oil instead of sesame oil. I used 8 oz macaroni instead of soba noodles, but kept the same amounts for the other ingredients. I also used cashews instead of pine nuts. Very different and very good. It was also very easy and quick to make.

ViVi's Bacon and Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
This was great and took about 20 minutes to assemble. I did everything as written except I used a bag of bacon bits instead of regular bacon. It's much easier that way.

Chiliville Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
Thanks for the recipe. I made it just as written except that I used splenda instead of brown sugar and precooked turkey sausage. It was very good and filling and easy to assemble.

Applesauce Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2012
Thanks for the great recipe! I made it just as written, except that I put it in a muffin tin and omitted the cloves since I didn't have any. I got 12 large muffins, which I baked at 375 for 15 minutes.

Grandma's Gingerbread Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2012
Thank you! What a unique recipe. It's nice to have a pancake recipe without milk! I got 18 VERY small pancakes out of this. I made the recipe as written except I doubled the baking powder and soda, as another reviewer suggested, so the pancakes wouldn't be so thin, and I doubled the ginger and cinnamon.

All-Fruit Smoothies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Thank you for this recipe. It's hard to find an all fruit smoothie that doesn't have milk or peanut butter or chocolate or weird ingredients like flax seed. I used diet sparkling lemonade in place of the orange juice because I'm diabetic. It was very good and portion sizes were large.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
WAY too much lemon. I added the 3 tbs lemon juice initially called for, but after tasting the batter and realizing it was too lemony, I cut the zest in half, added a 1/4 cup sugar to the batter (to cut out the bitterness), and skipped the glaze. I liked the final product and will make this again but WITH my modifications.

Hummus Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
I tripled the onions and used cashews instead of pine nuts. I also left out the olive oil because it was unneccesary. The onions cook in the grease from the meat and there is already plenty of oil/fat in the nuts and hummus--so why add more? I thought this tasted very good, but it was very filling. It might be better with chicken instead of beef. I also didn't layer it, I mixed it all together. I didn't see the point in layering it.

Sausage Applesauce Appetizer

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
I used turkey sausage, sugarfree splenda, sugarfree applesauce, and doubled the onion. A good recipe for diabetics, but I've had better sausage recipes.
