About this Cook
A 20-something who has recently flown the coop and decided that it's time to learn how to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I like instant gratification so I don't like things that take more than an hour to make
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making filling [stuffing] at my grandmother's house the night before Thanksgiving
My cooking triumphs
Just about anything that is edible. And if it is pretty like the picture, thats a major plus!
My cooking tragedies
Pumpkin roll! Botched my first FOUR but I didn't give up..although they still don't always look as perfect as my mom's

Walnut Cups
This is one of my favorite Christmas cookies ever! My family has been making them for years. You don't need to worry about the liners or even greasing the pan, since there's so much butter in the dough. It can be a bit of a pain to press the dough into the pans. Instead you can just roll them into balls and then use a wooden pastry tamp dipped in flour - totally worth the $10 on amazon! Makes the whole process a lot faster and more professional looking

Honey Nut Granola
I have made this granola time and time again. Everyone always loves it, its so easy, and it makes a ton so its perfect to bag and give as a gift! I usually substitute walnuts for pecans. I also add 1/4 cup ground flaxseed for nutritional value. I bake for 20 minutes like the recipe suggests but I take it out and stir it every 7 minutes. It seems like 3 minutes wouldn't really make a difference but it does. This can get very brown (borderline burnt) very quickly so I think every 7 minutes is perfect. I bake it on wax paper for easy clean up and as its cooling I add some craisins. Perfect!

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies
Wow..amazing peanut butter cookie recipe. I realized last minute that I bought a 15oz peanut butter but they were still really moist with a ton of peanut butter flavor. I got so many compliments on these cookies! Next time I think I'll add some chocolate chips or candies. I'll probably also cut the recipe in half unless I know I'm taking them for a large group since it makes 60 cookies!
