I'm a stay-at-home mom who loves to experiment in the kitchen. I love to have people over just to cook for them.I have been cooking since I was 11 years old and have been helping in the kitchen since I was 1 yr. old.
My favorite things to cook
All-in-One dishes such as soups, casseroles, and pastas. I love cooking authentic international cuisine such as authentic Chinese, Japanese, and Indian. I love to make desserts too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great-grandmother was Italian whose family was from Calabria, Italy. We have an authentic Calabrian spaghetti sauce recipe that has been passed down through the generations for no telling how many decades and maybe even centuries?
My cooking triumphs
I pulled off a 10" x 13" fondant covered sheet cake for my toddler's 1st birthday. It was my very first attempt ever at fondant. And it looked at the very least like a baking school student's work. I have the ability to eat a dish - any dish - and be able to reproduce it to near perfection without a recipe. This comes in handy when figuring out what spices and herbs to use. I have the ability to have people eat my cooking who previously hated whatever dish, and then love it after eating mine.
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I cooked rice when I was 11 yrs. old, I don't know what I did, but I wound up with a mixing bowl sized dome of rock-hard rice that wouldn't even shatter when I threw it down on our gravel driveway. Usually I have a tragedy in the kitchen (aka burnt) whenever I get distracted by Facebook. I have burned quite a few meals whenever Facebook snagged my brain. Shame on you FB!

Chef John's Sausage & Shrimp Jambalaya
It tasted very yummy, however I did have to adjust the recipe. I added in more rice and also used dry crushed bay leaves instead of fresh since that's what I had on hand. My stove was being kind of finicky, so I had to simmer the jambalaya on medium heat for two hours in order to get the rice to cook. I also used chicken broth instead of stock, and it still tasted really good.

Mom's Pie Crust
It is a good simple basic recipe for pie crust. However, I thought that 1 cup of butter was too much. It made the pie crust very greasy and difficult to form. I had to constantly add flour in order to keep it from breaking apart too easily and sticking to everything. I recommend using 1/2 cup of butter instead.
