Sour Cream Torte

I entered this in a sour cream competition at the Iowa State Fair - you had to use 2 cups. I made it as written, but substituted pecans. I received 3rd place out of 20 entries. When I passed samples, the volunteers in the food department raved about it!

Torta Rustica

I entered this in a product specific (LaQuercia Meats) food contest at the Iowa State Fair and took first prize!! I made it as written with minor changes - I used proscuitto for the ham, the whole 15 oz pkg of ricotta cheese (what are you suppose to do with the remaining 1/3 cup?) and the whole jar of peppers. I halved everything and repeated the layers. The judges raved about it, and when I passed around samples people gave me their emails so I could send them the recipe!! Thanks you Christine!

Feta Chicken Salad

I entered this recipe in the Iowa State Fair for a caterer's competion - they loved it!! BLUE RIBBON, and $150 first prize - I plated it in pita pockets halves with a lettuce leaf, and veggie nibbles - even the husband loved it

Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta

I made this for a teacher's potluck at school - I loved it, but it wasn't a huge hit with others - the junior high students that tried it liked it, so that worked for me! I did add quite a bit more cheese though - my apples were BIG, so maybe that was the problem - that's why I prefer measurements, or at least sizes (sm, med, lg) - I will make this again!!

Sour Cream Orange Pumpkin Pie

I made 2 pies for our annual church dinner/bazaar (we serve over 2000 people) - I'm giving this 5 stars based on the fact I had people track me down in the kitchen asking for the recipe - the recipe caught my interest due to the added orange - I enter food competitions at the Iowa State Fair, and an old 4-H leader of mine always judged the pumpkin bars in the cookie division - her hint to competitors was that pumpkin always needed a little citrus to set it off - I guess she was right!!

Ibby's Pumpkin Mushroom Stuffing

I made this for an herb competition at the 2004 Iowa State Fair - I took 1st place - it was a huge hit with the judges and other competitors!! I substituted baby portabellas for cremini mushrooms, and added a half cup of coarsely chopped and toasted pecans - YUMMY!!!!!!!

Watermelon Fire and Ice Salsa

my daughter took 1st place at the 2003 Iowa State Fair in intermediate division (11-17 years old)salsa class with this recipe - they really liked it - it's a fun combination of flavors and textures - thanks for the recipe

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cheesecake

my daughter entered this cake in the Smuckers' Creations with Jams and Jellies at the 2003 Iowa State Fair - she took 2nd place! she was up against an assortment of desserts - unfortunately we didn't get to taste it - the volunteer staff snagged it! thank you for the recipe
