At first I thought cilantro garnish on an Indian dish was different, but after trying it, decided it really made the dish. Having lived in India for a few months, I would have to say that it did not taste 100% Indian to me, but definitely pretty close and I liked that I could make it using easy to find ingredients. I think I'd like to try it with coconut milk someday, and I did use powdered ginger. I'm sure fresh would be much better. Overall it was pretty good and a enjoyably different way to use up some potatoes and carrots.
