Venus de Milo Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
This was simply the best soup I have had in awhile. Really amazing and filling. My whole family loved it!

Momma's Shrimp and Cheese Grits

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
Overall, an OK dish. I really wish there was just a little more flavor. I kept thinking it needed some more sauce or something to take it up notch.

Extra-Easy Spinach Lasagna

Great and easy recipe. I love the no-boil lasagna noodles! I used as many noodles and made an extra level. Great and vary easily modified recipe!

Chicken, Avocado and Mango Salad

This recipe is great! The dressing really makes it. I will certainly be experimenting with more ways to use the garlic chili sauce.

Pumpkin Quinoa Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
This certainly didn't turn out how I hoped. I might have done something wrong, but they turned out hard and bitter. I was disappointed with the results. As others have said, the muffins never rose, even with longer cook times.

Homemade Pesto

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Good and simple recipe. I like mine with a little more olive oil, so either I didn't put the right amount in, or it needs a little extra. Fortunately, that is a pretty easy thing to do at the end.

Chef John's Stuffed Peppers

Great stuffed peppers! Kind of an Italian flare for this meal. Chef John does it again!

Monterey Spaghetti

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
Great tasting recipe! I obviously did something wrong, as my pasta burned/stuck to the sides of my crockpot. But, the crunch gained from that made the recipe even more deliscous.

Aji de Gallina

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
We really enjoyed this recipe. I could not find the intended pepper paste, so had to figure out a substitute. I used about a cup of green chiles, and added chipotle pepper to taste. I was lucky, and it came out just right!

Savory Stuffed Zucchini

Surprisingly good. I was skeptical that this would be mushy and bland, but not so!

Victor's Shrimp Fried Quinoa

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
Great dish! We enjoyed this a lot! This is also very versatile. I used Sesame seeds instead of sesame seed oil...as that was laying around. Also, I added a green pepper, garlic, and a small onion as they needed to be used. We will certainly be making this again.

simplylo's Oven-Baked Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I thought this recipe had good flavor, but no one else in my house would eat it. Not quite the flavor I expected with all of the spices in it. Ended up tasting fairly "earthy".

Good recipe. Mine never quite look like the fancy pictures, but still taste great. Very hard to go wrong with.

Spicy Jalapeno Chicken Sausage with Mango, Pineapple Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2014
Absolutely perfect recipe! My wife and I could eat this almost every week. We have put it over rice, over pasta, or even with some lettuce in a tortilla wrap. EXCELLENT!

Vegetarian Cottage Cheese Patties

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2014
This recipe was very interesting. Certainly a different taste than I have had before. I liked it. Due to my mistake, I used Quaker Oats instead of rolled oats. This gives this recipe a granola-type flavor that is good. I did not get the overwhelming salt that others have mentioned. Note: I did not fry these. I simply baked them to save dishes. The volume filled a 8x8 pan - no patties for me.

Classic Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2014
I really don't get a Pad Thai flavor from this. Based on other reviews, I cut the ketchup by 1/3 - and it still overpowered the other flavors. I will be seeking other Pad Thai recipes.

Shrimp and Sweet Corn Maque Choux

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
Amazing dish. I left out the shallots, so increased the amount of green onion. I left this dish without rice, and it was amazing. Many reviews say this is too spicy, but that seems easily changed by the amount of creole seasoning put in. I also agree with another review, and put the half and half in earlier than the recipe says.

Chef John's Caramel Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
This recipe is AMAZING! I just can't leave it alone once it is made. This is now our go-to recipe for when we have company over. Note - to get the full flavor out of this, you really need to boil down the liquid ("reduce"). The max flavor comes when the chicken is just starting to burn a little... Chef John - thank you!

Spicy Ham and Apple Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2012
This recipe was GREAT! A really good flavor that tasted good even as leftovers. Warning: I used cream style horseradish instead of what the recipe called for. It really increased the heat!

Anatolian Bulgur Pilav

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2012
Good recipe! Like the other review said, I decided to increase the amount of lentils and chick peas. That seems to be a good decision. Otherwise a good, healthy dish. I keep thinking it needs just a little bit more of something. Either more tomatoes, a little curry powder / garlic, something like that.
