About this Cook
About me...well I have been cooking since I was a kid. Love to cook and bake. I would call myself an experienced cook/baker. Not professional by any means just been around and experiment a lot and have had a lot of success at it with friends and family. I'm very old school and traditional, but the last couple years I have tried a lot of new things I wouldn't have normally. Love to cook for those I love and people who need a helping hand once in awhile.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! Its my most favorite and I am at my happiest. I love to please people and sweet things always please people! I'm getting to be a crock pot pro also. Breads...all kinds of bread I try to bake now. I would say my horizons have been broadened a lot since I started All Recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas morning at Grandmas! Since I was little we always had waffles, bacon, sausage, and OJ for Christmas morning breakfast. Bright and early. I want to keep that tradition alive because it means so much to me. We don't go to my Grandma's anymore but we do it at my parents home. Things have changed a bit since kids have been added to the mix. The timing is different and now my dad does most of the cooking on Christmas since my mom is disabled now. He's a cooker like me too, and eventually he'll let me take over. LOL.
My cooking triumphs
I have quite a few now since I have done experiments with certain things in cooking. I'd say my triumphs would be all the new stuff I am trying now. I'm not so afraid to try new things now.
My cooking tragedies
I used to list Sugar Cookies on here as an utter failure. Now that has changed. Found the perfect recipe that comes out every time when I make them. Perfect! I really don't have "tragedies" but more like "needs to improve" which one of them is timing. This day and age everyone is so busy. I am too sometimes and therefore rush sometimes so thats something I would like to work on.

Onion Soup Mix
So easy and very tasty! I used beef bouillon granules since I prefer those. I also have this mini food processor which I added everything in and pulsed a few seconds to make it finer. This recipe equals 1 envelope of the dry onion soup mix you buy at the store. I know it wasn't mentioned on the instructions so I thought I'd mention it. You can use onion soup mix in a lot of things! Roasted potatoes won out this time. :)

Slow Cooker Pork Chops and Rice
So, this is a good recipe once tweeked. I used 6 center cut boneless pork chops, 2 cups of rice, 1/2 an onion chopped, 4 tb unsalted butter, 4 cups of water with 2-3 tbsp of beef granules mixed in, 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, 1 envelope of onion soup mix, and 1/2 tsp of pepper. I omitted the water chestnuts, peas, and mushrooms cause I didnt have those. I dont have beef broth but used granules instead. Used more rice. Originally I only added 2 cups of water but after 2 hrs liquid was gone so I added 2 more cups. Everything finished cooking in 3 1/2 hrs on low. So, I think the cooking times are incorrect since so many had issues with mushiness? I tasted it and oh my God so good! Flavorful and rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy! Chops were done. I DID NOT brown the chops beforehand, I just put them in my crock as is. Gets 3 stars because I had to change so much and took advice of other reviews.

Fluffy French Toast
Normally I make my french toast with just egg and milk nothing else. Usually my toast came out kinda flat and flavorless. LOL. Tried this recipe and loved it! I also added some nutmeg to it. Yum! Never thought adding a bit of flour would help make them fluffy. I learned to make french toast from my mom who really didn't experiment a whole lot mostly because of my dad and he's picky. Since I got married 10 years ago I have gotten more "experimental" and tried my own things and have had success. Don't be afraid to add your own thing. I know some reviewers hate on people who change the recipes. There is usually a reason. Most people are looking for a base recipe and then go from there especially after reading reviews on what works for others. I've posted recipes on here myself and I WELCOME people changing my recipes to suit their own tastes. Why be boring? LOL. Anyways great recipe. Thank you Bonnie!
