Danish Pastry Apple Bars I

I am not an expert baker or cook and I don't normally write reviews unless a recipe really stands out. These apple bars are so good. I did change the recipe to suite my personal taste by using 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup of white sugar instead of 1/2 cup white sugar. I also added 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg and 1/4 tsp ground cloves. I mixed the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves together before putting it on top of the apples. I left off the corn flakes because I didn't have any. I was worried this would leave liquid and the bottom crust soggy but it did not. My only complaint about this is the difficulty I had with the crust. It was very sticky and difficult to work with. I rolled it on a sheet of floured parchment paper and turned it upside down on the pan. I had to use a lot of flour to not get it to stick to everything and I rolled it very thin to get it to the size I needed it. It turned out well and I was able to seal the top crust to the bottom crust. This recipe is a keeper. I will keep in mind though that this a time consuming recipe dealing with rolling out the crust and peeling and slicing the apples. I wish it had an addition for a glaze recipe, I had to look that up. I used 1 cup confectioners sugar, 6 tsp. hot water, 1 tsp. vanilla and drizzled over the top after removing it from the oven.

Red, White, and Blue Fruit Smoothie

I love this recipe! Followed recipe exactly - no changes. This is a great combination of fruits. I have been making different smoothie recipes for quite some time. I am always leary about using yogurt but this recipe is awesome. I was worried about using the bananas at first because I did not want an overpowering banana flavor. But I was amazed at how great it tasted.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

I have never written a review before but I make this recipe all the time. It is a favorite among my family. I made it at a family gathering and it was a hit. It is a great crock pot recipe! I do make some changes. First, I only use Famous Daves BBQ sauce. I have used other sauces and this one gives the recipe the best taste. The Texas Pit flavour combined with zesty itallian dressing makes the chicken tangy though. I only use 3 or 4 FRESH chicken breasts, I never cook frozen meat. I make this two ways, one way is I cook the chicken in the crock pot on low for 4 hours using chicken broth first. Then drain and shredd the chicken. I add the BBQ sauce and cook on low for another 1-2 hours. The second way is I cook the chicken in the BBQ sauce on low 4-6 hours then shredd the chicken as stated in the recipe. I have had my chicken come out dry, to combat that I make another batch or 1/2 batch of BBQ sauce, depending on your tastes.
