Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This recipe was excellent!! My first turkey ever, and I wasn't disappointed. I added apple cider vinegar, brown and white sugar to the brine, and I added some fuji apples to the veggie mix. I used a turkey with a pop-up timer, rested it for 45 minutes, and it was juicy and wonderful. The veggies came out slightly tart and tangy. I made a gravy by heating 2 Tablespoons of flour with 2 Tablespoons of fat (from the drippings) in a saucepan. I drained the rest of the fat from the drippings and added water to make 2 cups of liquid. I added that to the fat/flour mixture and boiled while stirring for about 10 minutes or so. It was the best gravy I've ever had. I can't wait to impress guests with this recipe!

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This was a great jumping off point, and I definitely enjoyed it. I did think it needed a lot of lemon, and more butter. The butter and lemon make a nice amount of sauce for the noodles and for dipping bread in.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
SO good. I added a splash of apple cider vinegar to the pot, and served it with lots of vinegary hot sauce. The only thing I wish I did was find authentic andouille sausage. I used a chicken andouille, and it just wasn't quite the right texture. Oh well, that means I have to make it again ;)

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This was my first attempt at French Toast, and I made it for guests this morning. I used homemade bread (no-knead white bread) that was fresh from the oven, and it was excellent. It was tender inside and the chewy crust was a perfect texture complement. I added a pinch more cinnamon, but otherwise followed the recipe.
