This past weekend was a comfort food kind of weekend.  I made a big pot of Texas Style Chili and it was so good.  I stopped by Penzey's Spices to pick up Cumin, Mexican Oregano, Red Chile Powder, and Chili Powder.  Of course, I picked up some other spices while I was there. … MORE

About Me
I am a mother of three beautiful children. I love cooking for my family. I don't always have time during the week but try to cook on the weekends. I live in MA but am originally from Texas. My Mom is a wonderful Southern Cook. I was in the kitchen learning from her from the time I was old enough to stir.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook but my passion is baking. I love making cookies and cakes for friends and family. I also love to bake bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy cooking for the holidays. Friends and family always come to our house on Christmas Eve for appetizers and desserts. I always cook a LOT of food. On Christmas morning I cook breakfast for the family and then later that evening I make a Beef Tenderloin with all the trimmings. It's a lot of work but I LOVE IT.
My cooking triumphs
The perfect Beef Tenderloin on Christmas Day! It's taken a few years to perfect the meal but I think I've got it down. At least my family and husband's family rave about it anyway!
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving Dinner -- My turkey took 2 hours more than I had calculated! Luckily we had plenty of appetizers to keep people from starving before I got the turkey on the table!
