Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2012
This is something I will cook up again for busy school nights. As per some reviews, the only changes I made were to add the peppers on the fourth hour out of six in the crock pot (on low) and they were perfect, and 30 minutes before done, I turned the crock pot to high and added 1 tbsp of corn starch well mixed into 1/2 cup of hot water which gave me a thicker sauce - served on white rice. I mentionned at the table that next time, I would add some pineapple and everyone agreed that it would really be good, so I'll try it next time, but overall, it took 5 minutes to prepare and was very good... for me, it's a keeper!

Tostitos Rapido Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
I've been making this recipe for many years, and transformed it to my taste along the way. Instead of the onions, peppers and tomato, I use an avocado, a finely chopped green onion, sliced black olives and baby shrimps...hmmm!!!

Ham Breakfast Braid

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2012
Hmmmm, This was an awesome way to use leftover ham. After reading reviews, I only added 4 green onions and 1/2 red pepper chopped. I basted the top with an egg and sprinkled sesame seeds. I served it for supper with a salad.... see my picture, this would look great on a table for brunch! Oh and I made two at once, my first I cooked at 375 and it was very dark after only 15 min so I cooked the second at 350 for 25 min and it turned out perfect! I posted a picture of a drawing I made for my mom of how I put it together because many seemed to have trouble with it.

Simple Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: May 7, 2012
I thought this was really good but the rest of the family was so-so about it, I added the zest of a lemon but otherwise kept the recipe intact. I served with white rice & veggies, maybe I'll try it again but add herbs to it, rosemary or something...

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2012
After reading reviews, I tried this with some changes; Instead of tortilla chips, I used flour tortillas, in two layers, like a lasagna. I cooked the groud beef with garlic, green onions and a pack of taco powder, and I added a can of corn and 7-8 slices of finely chopped jalapeno to the recipe. So I put it together as follows, flour tortillas, 1/2 meat mixture, 1/2 sour cream, 1/2 tomatoes & green onions, repeat layering and top with mexican shredded cheese. Although I love black olives, next time I'll leave them out of this recipe.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I made these, well actually, my 11 yr old son made these as I supervised... the're really awesome and easy to make. I made in a 9x13 pan and cooked 35 mins. Added apples instead of raisins and poured vanilla glaze on top. This recipe is a keeper!!!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
To me, this salad was ok, as per many reviews, I cut down the sugar to 1/4 cup and it was sweet enough for me, but too vinegary for my taste. I'm a big salad eater and I don't think I'll be making this one again unless I make changes to it. After trying the original way, I can imagine it would be better with mandarines and by cutting the vinegars by half, I would also add green onions and maybe some cheese... Guess I'll just have to try it again!

Tomato Basil Penne Pasta

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
This was very good, very flavorful and super simple to make.... will be making this on sports nights when time for making supper is limited. I didn't have pepperjack cheese so I used a prepared mix of strong shredded cheeses and added just a teaspoon of red pepper... As for the portion - not gonna feed 4 adults with this recipe, it would have to be doubled... very good. I may add prosciutto next time I make it, or italian sausage, altough it was good as is, I think prosciutto would make it ahhh hmmmm perfect! Made it again and added Prosciutto - ahhh, was soooo perfect!

Vanilla Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
After reading many reviews, I made this adding a tablespoon of milk and one of corn syrup. I noticed after making it that I melted my butter on low and mixed in the other ingredients and kept it on low mixing it for 2-3 minutes. The recipe didn't mention to heat it but it turned out great. I poured it hot over a recipe from this site : Kalacs (Hungarian Cinnamon Swirl Bread)

Real Poutine

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I'm from Québec where poutine was invented, so if you don't like it here, you're like an alien... I've finally found my kind of poutine, MY way - try this: FRIES, OKA CHEESE AND PEPPER SAUCE (canned from St-Hubert is the best for this if you can find it) This way I love it!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
Hmmmm, and very unexpected. Am not too fond of beans but I absolutely LOVED this recipe. It was too large for my slow cooker so I made it in the oven, 3hrs at 350, then in the fridge overnight, next day I cut up the chicken and back in the oven at 350 for 2 hours. In Québec, we can't find tomatoes with chilies so I put in about 10-15 slices of jalapenos, chopped finely and used one pack of Old ElPasso taco seasoning and replaced the chili beans with baby red beans bacause again, I couldn't find them... served with Kraft Mexican cheese, low fat sour cream and tortillas.... de-li-cious ... a sure bet after a long day outside playing in the snow !!!

Chicken and Red Bean Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 16, 2012
Ok, so I started making this recipe, used roasted chicken, red beans, grated cheese and 1 cup of sour cream, used green onions instead of plain onions, added a small can of corn, a small can of enchiladas sauce, 1/2 jar of salsa, jalapeno peppers, mixed all ingredients in a bowl, filled the tortillas, topped with a blend of TexMex Kraft cheese, in the oven at 325 for 50 minutes. Ok, I agree, it's not the same recipe but the base was great, I just added what I felt like having... which is what is great about this recipe, you can make it your own!

Mediterranean Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
This recipe was just ok for me... The only change I made to the original recipe was to add the bacon at the end. I think it would make a better cold pasta salad... but that's my taste. I think I'll try the leftovers cold.

Topsy-Turvy Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
This was super simple to make and absolutely amazing. I had about 5 1/2 cups of apples so I used them all and it was perfect... not too sweet and very flavorful... and I had the kids make it - they can't wait to have it again!

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
I made this recipe following AbeLincolns' review because to me, tossing in carrots & potatoes in to have a complete meal in 15 minutes of preparation was great for a busy week night... and it was: very tasty and juicy, lots of flavors! I will make this again but next time, I'll add the veggies after an hour of cooking or so... Very good & sooo simple!

Easy Taco Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
I cooked my meat with onions and garlic and followed the rest of the recipe... tasted the mix before filling my tortillas. I then decided it was missing some flavour... added 1/2 of the salsa jar to the mix... added a can of refried beans, 1 tbs of Chili powder and would have added some jalapeno but didn't have any. Next time, I'll use medium salsa instead of mild. This recipe is a good base but to me, it needed a little more punch to it.

Kas' Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
This was awesome, my husband who does not like chili actually really liked it. The only change I made to the recipe was to put in 2 cans of tomato sauce instead of one and this, just because of previous reviews knowing that it would be in the oven all afternoon and I wouldn't be able to check on it. I left out the cilantro, I really don't like it in anything... I made it in the oven because the recipe was too much for my slow cooker, 250 for 6 hours.

Deep Dish Alfredo Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2012
I have to say after reading the rewiews, I had high expectations, but this wasn't a hit in our house. I made it as is, the crust was my concern as per various reviews, wasn't bad, just didn't taste much and was rather oily. The sauce in itself wasn't bad either, I guess we're just not used to eating such rich foods. I toped it with grilled chicken, mushrooms, spinach and little bits of cooked bacon.... Overall, it was ok.
