Crescent Chicken Bundles

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
Very simple to make with "recipe creations" crescent roll sheet (1 can quartered made 1/2 recipe). I cooked twice the amount of chicken in the crock pot earlier in the week and used the planned leftovers in this recipe. Forgot the milk and it still worked fine. Kids loved it.

Fettuccini Carbonara

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
I really thought this would be gobbled up by my pasta loving kids. What's not to love...pasta, bacon, cheese, cream. It's worth another run past the family, but if not received better next time, it won't make it into the menu rotation.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Adults in the family liked it. Kids not so much. I think the flavors were too strong for them. Probably won't make it again without significant changes.

Molly's Mouthwatering Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
Loved this basic recipe. Didn't follow it exactly, so can't really give it 5 stars. Did not use mayo and added dried dill and garlic. Delish on meat, as dip, even added a dollop on my chili. Very good and fresh tasting.

Letcho

This was a good way to use up left over summer sausage. I forgot to add the tomatoes, but we still liked it. I served it with sauteed cabbage and cheddar cheese garlic biscuits. It was a hit...and used up the sausage and peppers in my fridge.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
Very tasty soup. Used summer sausage left over from holidays instead of ham. Probably will not use the chopped celery next time. The flavor was good, but we didn't like the celery pieces in a cream soup. Maybe just add a few stalks while boiling the veggies, then remove when adding milk/flour. Good basic recipe method to experiment with different veggies and meat.

Black Bean Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Never had black bean brownies until now. They are pretty good for what they are. The recipe fit the bill since I have a restricted diet, but not a good substitute for people who are free to eat any kind of brownie they want. Will continue to make these adding more cocoa. Also, I did not add the baking powder as some suggested, and I thought they turned out "cakey" enough.

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
This was tasty made with homemade apple butter. Not for those who don't like sweet with their meat, however. I'll make it again, but it won't be in the regular rotation.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Served this as a sweet addition to a tex mex small plates menu. I thought it was much better the next day after refrigerating overnight. Guests liked it. I sprinkled the bottom "crust" with cinnamon before adding filling. Also I do think the honey added another layer of flavor.

Texas Sheet Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Delish. Just like I remembered it. I did add 1 tsp of cinnamon to the cocoa mixture because I never had chocolate sheet cake without it. Icing is very sweet, but oh so good when you spread it warm onto warm cake.

Egg and Cheese Puffs

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
This probably has potential if you tweak it a lot. We did not care for it the way I made it. I did cut back on the cheese a little bit, but even with the full amount, I'm not sure we would like it more. The problem for us was the strange texture of the eggs. It was easy, but that's about all I liked about it.

Good basic waffle. Mixed eggs, then other wet ingredients, then dry ingredients in a blender. Made it easy to pour onto waffle iron.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
I baked this cake in a 9x13" baking dish. The flavor was ok, but not the best I've made. Same with the texture: denser than a cake, but "sponge-ier" than banana bread would be. Maybe best as muffins? I make banana bread/cake/muffins often to use up bananas at the end of the week. Probably won't make this recipe again, as I have others my family likes more.

Sugar Coated Pecans

I followed this basic method but used mixed nuts (leaving out the salt) and added cayenne pepper for a kick. We loved them! The few that were left after snacking, I tossed in a salad. Terrific! Will make again...and will experiment with other spices.

Lemon Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
I upped the fresh squeezed lemon juice to 1/2 cup and added 1T lemon zest. (If you use bottled juice, 1/3 cup may be enough.) Aslo subbed fat free cream cheese. Served with whipped cream as a topper. Sweet, creamy, and lemony but not tart. We really liked it.

Roasted Carrot Salad

Loved this! Nice change for a Thanksgiving side dish. I served this with spinach instead of arugula. The cheese and cranberries and toasted nuts were great in combination with the other ingredients. Yummy! Loved the gorgonzola in it. May not have added the full amount called for...I just eye-balled it.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

My family really liked this, but we are brussel sprouts fans anyway. I quartered the sprouts, left out the butter and pine nuts. (We were having nuts in another dish.) Good and simple to make.

Lime Pineapple Jam

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
I really wanted to love this after reading the other reviews. However, the batch I made did not live up to the "sunshine in a jar" or "buttery" billing. Although I only cooked mine 35 minutes, it may have been too long because it became very sticky and thick...not spreadable the next morning after refrigeration. (Almost like the candied fruit in Christmas fruitcake.) The flavor was pretty good so I may try again since others had better luck than I did.
