Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
Wow, these cookies were amazing. I made this recipe exactly according to directions except for doubling the butter and omitting the shortening. They are nothing short of perfection!! The only difficulty I had was cooking them for just the right amount of time...so keep a close on on them while baking. I read the most positive and least positive reviews before making this recipe, and the consistent "bitter, cream of tartar" as well as the "too sticky dough" reviews made me nervous. Fortunately, I did not have either of those problems WHATSOEVER...not even close. Thank you for an amazing recipe. I think my husband might love me a little more when he has these after work today :)

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
I made the following changes to this recipe- fresh mushrooms instead of canned, fresh spinach instead of frozen, and 2 TBSP butter instead of 1/2 cup. The flavor was very, very good. However, the entire lower half of the quiche was soggy. When we cut into it and removed slices of the quiche, liquid oozed out from the quiche that was still in the pan. Obviously the button crust was completely soggy. So, the flavor was great but it was so soggy and wet that I cannot give it a very high rating. I may have made a mistake by using the fresh ingredients so it might have been my own personal problem instead of a flaw in the recipe!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
I thought this recipe was just okay. It was a bit too sweet though, so it overpowered the taste of the yeasty rolls. However, for those who love super-sweet cinnamon rolls this recipe would be perfect.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
I made this recipe exactly as written. Neither my husband nor I enjoyed it at all. I really do not have anything good to say about it. It tasted super healthy, bland, almost a little bit tart with the flax seeds.

My go-to meatloaf recipe. It is super quick and easy, and we love the sauce over the top. Thank you for the great recipe!

Soft Frosted Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
These cookies were really good! I used a cookie scoop and plopped the dough down for each cookie. When they were done cooking, they were a semi-dome shape. They were super soft, not too sweet, and have a light pillowy texture. I followed the directions exactly and they turned out great. I didn't give it five stars because I think it is possible there are better recipes out there, although these were super good. Thanks for a great recipe!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
This chicken was really good! I mixed all the ingredients together (including butter, oil, and lemon), marinated it for about five hours and then cooked it on the stove without adding anything else directed. Great tasting and easy recipe!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
This cake was amazing. I made it with a dark chocolate frosting. We are all huge chocolate lovers, and this recipe was as rich and moist as I think a cake recipe could possibly be. Don't plan on being able to eat large slices of cake-a little goes a long way due to its richness.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
I made this recipe with whole milk, and used 1 3/4 squares of unsweetened chocolate baking squares because I did not have any cocoa powder. This recipe was INSANELY good. It is now my husband's favorite dessert.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
I cooked this recipe as muffins and they turned out really good. They were perhaps a little too sweet for me but were still really good. Although I liked this recipe, I gave it four stars because I think the banana crumb muffins on allrecipes are a lot tastier and more healthy, too.

Italian Wedding Cookies III

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
Pretty darn good cookies! I used unsalted butter and cut the salt down by half. Otherwise I followed the directions exactly. They cooked perfectly after 17 minutes in the gas oven at 325 degrees. I made hundreds of these cookies to make favors for my sister-in-law's wedding. I hope they're a hit! I gave them a four because I find them to be not quite sweet or tasty enough, but my sister-in-law and the rest of the family loved them so it might just be me!

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
My dad and I loved these pancakes because of the unique flavor, and we would both give them five stars. However, my husband and mom did not like them at all. They thought they tasted like health food and not like a "regular" pancake at all. They could really taste the whole wheat and wheat germ. So, I compromised and gave the recipe three stars.

Baked Parmesan-Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
This recipe was delicious! I only used 3-4 Tbsp butter and was still able to coat the chicken with butter/garlic mixture before dipping into the breading. I used dried thyme, basil, and oregano since I had them in my spice cabinet. I also used Panko breadcrumbs which made the chicken very crunchy. Next time, i will bake on a cooling rack to make the bottom of the chicken just as crunchy as the top. Thanks for a great recipe!

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
Followed this recipe exactly. My husband and I both thought this recipe was pretty bland. The coating never became at all crispy which we thought was strange. Overall, a very simple dish to prepare but you could definitely tell it required very little effort.

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
This recipe was so simple and so delicious!! My husband and I both thought they tasted like potatoes that you would get at a very nice restaurant. I only made a pound of potatoes, adjusted the olive oil, salt and pepper accordingly, and added a clove of minced garlic while tossing. Excellent!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
This bread was great! Once the bread machine made the dough, I shaped it into one loaf of bread and popped into the oven for 30 minutes. I skipped the additional step of letting it rise and then punching it back down. It turned out very good!
