About this Cook
I come from a long line of cooks, my Grandma Phoebe, mother Bette, and sister Julie started teaching me early. I now am a school cook, which isn't the place to be the most creative though.
My favorite things to cook
Probably cookies rank #1, then pies, cakes, bars, and soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are big Christmas cookie bakers. Each year my sister has my mother and I over to make cookies, we always have a lot of fun!
My cooking triumphs
I am proud of the blueberry pie I created for a pie auction that got the highest bid, think it went for $85!
My cooking tragedies
Cheese straws, made them for my son's Mississippi state project. Didn't care for those at all, most my tragedies occurred as a new cook :)

Manicotti Italian Casserole
I made this yesterday for my son's college coach that came for a visit. The sausage really made for a better flavor than ground beef alone. I used 2 jars of marinara style spaghetti sauce which worked out great. Everyone in my family really liked it. I also added some diced celery and a small chopped onion to the meat while cooking and used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. Since this is so meaty, I didn't use the pepperoni. THANK YOU!!

Chocolate Zucchini Cake I
My family adored this cake. I didn't have chocolate chips, nuts, or cloves in the house so I frosted with my own cream cheese frosting. Teenage sons couldn't believe there was vegetables in it. It is a heavier bread-like cake but that is what I love. The cinnamon adds a great touch, I also baked at 350 which is what I bake all my cakes at. Excellent!!

Mexican Brownies
I didn't have the mexican cinnamon so used my Penzey's cinnamon. Also used cayenne pepper, it was all I had. These surprised me as we made them for my son's Spanish class. I made them in mini muffin pans and rolled in powdered sugar. I really enjoyed the flavor, a little salty, sweet, and the cinnamon added a nice touch.
