A fantastic chili recipe!! Everyone that tried my chili raved about how it was the best they'd ever had. You could actually see the reaction on their faces as they ate it. I did make a few additions/substitutions. I liked what 1 reviewer said about not using bacon bits and instead crisping up 4 slices of bacon. Btw, bacon bits is not real bacon at all. Why not have the real thing? Anyway, I also followed the same reviewers advice, and sauteed the celery, garlic and onion in a 1/2 tbsp of bacon grease until the onion is translucent. I also added 1 mexican (red) jalapeno, hoping it would add to the spiciness, but I don't think it did. I may add a couple more next time. I also didn't have cayenne pepper on had, so I used 2 teaspoons of chipotle chili powder, and I also added an extra teaspoon of chili powder as well. It really went well with the Fritos, I used the lightly salted Fritos, because I didn't want to add to the salt content too much. I also used shredded sharp cheddar cheese as well. It was fantastic!!!
