Ham and Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
These beans were fantastic!! I used 1/4 cup brown sugar, added 3 cloves of garlic, 2 bay leaves, a 1/3 stick of kombu (sea vegetable, adds delicious flavor and softens beans take out with the bay leaves before eating) and used a pound of pit ham. Also added the onion while cooking. Served with spoon bread. Magnifico for a cold winter night!! Thanks for sharing.

Yummy Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2006
Fantastic!! I used choco dyna bites for the cereal in the crust. The color is stunning against the fruit and looks very exotic. Also used whipped cream out of a can right before serving.. My kids request this every time, a real winning recipe. Thanks a bunch!

Creamy Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
This is too thick, and doesn't have the depth of chocolatiness I was looking for. While it is as easy as box pudding, the seasoned palate will find the texture and taste less than desired. Perhaps the recipe could be adjusted to lessen the cornstarch, and increase the depth of chocolate...I probably won't use this recipe again as there are so many classic recipes out there, but I will say that this was VERY quick! If you like to experiment, this is a good place to start from. If all you've ever used previously is boxed mix, this may be an improvement. If the flavor issues were resolved, then this would make a good pie, as it would stay in form and not run all over the plate.

Falafel I

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
This recipe is a great start for falafel. I added additional spices of celery salt, much more garam marsala, (as I had no coriander on hand and it contains coriander AND cumin.) Lots of black pepper, and some gluten free bread crumbs finished this off nicely. I also let is sit in the fridge for awhile before frying, it helps firm it up.

Antoinette's Strawberry Freeze

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2004
This is the classic recipe, Champagne Salad. It has been served for years across the country by that name. Queengoddessnance, you should be aware of plagerism's quite unlikely you'd create a time honored masterpiece, right down to the exact measurement!(The salad has stood generations of proclaim....two thumbs up...the cool whip is to be gently folded in...)

Oven Stew II

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2004
Great recipe for a cold day...I added a couple cloves of garlic and browned the meat in oil before putting it in the casserole. I also added a half an onion, which becomes sweet in the oven. I mixed the water with the soup before pouring it over the whole thing. *one other thing* as a person with celiac sprue, I substituted 2 Tbs. of tapioca for the flour, as a thickener. I will use this recipe again!

Asian Ground Beef and Pepper Saute

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2004
Doubled, this was still not excessive for my family of five. I added a sliced sweet onion too, and served it with chili sauce, so people could kick it up to their preference. Very quick, satisfying and tasty.

Banana Banana Bread

This is the dark, moist recipe you may remember from Grandma's kitchen. Definitely the BEST ever! Thank you, I've been searching for this recipe for a long time.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2003
I omitted the sugar altogether, added 1/2 cup baking mix, 1 small onion minced, 1 1/2 TBS chive sour cream, 1 Tbs. parsley and sprinkled some more on top. I had something else in the oven at 350 for an hour and it worked great. This recipe will replace the Jiffy mix corn casserole that I have always loved but can no longer use, due to the gluten. Thank you so much for bringing corn pudding back to our table!

German Pancake with Buttermilk Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2003
What a winner! I used spelt flour instead of wheat, cut the sugar down to 1 cup in the sauce, added maple flavoring and used whole milk as I had no buttermilk. SO GOOD! It'll be a tradition in our household too. Thanks for the great take on an old favorite!

Chocolate Chip Meringue Drops

Reviewed: May 6, 2003
What decadent bliss!! These yielded an excellent product and were VERY easy. I used 3/4 cup mini morsels, and reduced the cocoa to 2 TBS. I, too, only left the cookies in the oven for 45 mins. after baking. These are great....and the fact that they're low-cal makes them all the more appealing. I would've liked 'em anyway, but as a gluten intolerant person, these are now in my top ten picks. Thanks to S.N. Noble!!

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
What a jewel in my recipe box! These brought the house down. We love to try new recipes and were very happy with this exotic sensation for the taste buds! I did make a dipping sauce out of light mayo/reduced sodium soy sauce/chili powder and a bit of Hungarian paprika. I will make these again and again, and have had requests for the recipe. Thanks Donna!
