Michell Jenny's Challah

Excellent - moist, delecious and ingredients are spot on. Brushing with egg and topping with poppy seeds a must in my book. Go to youtube and look up braiding videos to learn the different braids - everything from 3 to 6 strings and your bread will look great.

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Awesome! The two best tips I found in the comments here were to add the whole bag of spinach (really! it cooks down to nothing) and also to have chopped salted tomatoes on top for garnish and flavor. A great recipe and it looks wonderful on a plate.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Incredible! Tastes like a rich cream based soup but is relatively healthy. I followed directions and just barely covered cubed veggies in chicken broth. It used probably 3/4 of the chicken stock and by the time I was done there was no need to add any more - once blended the consistency was perfect. Remember - don't dump in all your stock right from the get-go.

Canadian Barn BBQ Sauce

Not good. Followed recipe but reduced sugar a little. Still found it too sweet and flat/uninteresting. I felt the apple sauce was bad for the recipe. I was surprised as most other recipes with such a good rating (4.5 stars) really are amazing.

Lemon Blueberry Drop Scones

These are awesome! Everyone loves them, and they seems to be especially good hot. The mildly sweet scone is great, and the topping makes it pop. I typically leave out the blueberries - the scones taste great without and look a little nicer (I think) without the blue in there.

Sausage Casserole

Wow - really is a bowl scraper. Used the bag of Simply Potatoes hashbrowns I found next to the eggs at the market - came out great. I found the hash browns on the bottom did not brown at all, so next time I will try blind baking them first and then adding the topping. Guests at my breakfast table loved it and remarked "All you have to do is chew" as your whole breakfast (hasbrowns/eggs/cheese/sausage) is already make into a single item for you.

Aimee's Quick Chicken

Excellent. Tastes refined and sophisticated. You MUST use Dijon mustard to get the right taste (the white wine in dijon seems to be a big part of the flavor), and use low-salt terriyaki and low-salt bacon otherwise you are just asking for the "too salty" experience. I feel the parmesan is optional in this recipe.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
Easy on the liquid if you are using frozen bananas. The bread is excellent but I feel the mixture is on the edge of too wet - if you are using your 6 bananas from the freezer, defrost them and drain extra liquid out of the bowl they defrosted in - otherwise your bread may not bake through. I am not a walnut lover, but I have found I do like the bread better with 2 cups of crushed walnuts (maybe it's that 'something' that some say is missing). Haven't tried adding salt - I feel it turns out fine without it (and I use unsalted igredients).

Different Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
Simply great. Guests fall over themselves with amazement on the flavor. As a note: On these recipies with the multiple salty ingredients I am always sure to use the lower salt alternatives to keep the saltiness down (ie low salt healthy choice soup and honey ham versus the regular). A stellar recipie!!!
