I'm a little bit surprised at the reviews on this recipe. Consistency was good if you like nice and thick chowder, but the taste was a tad bit lacking. If you have never made chowder before, then I suppose this would be a good recipe. On the other hand, if your a chowder buff, you may be a bit disappointed. I didn't add the bacon as others suggested, may be I should have. Be sure to cook the flour mixture a bit, otherwise you will have a flour taste. And go easy on the red wine vinegar. I could taste it once I was done. I did add more clams and used a combo of chopped and minced. I like larger clams (not too big) and was glad that I did this. Not a bad recipe, but certainly not 5 stars in my book. Sorry I couldn't rate this better, just being honest.
