Bread Machine Calzone

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2006
This is a great recipe! We made two, one as suggested in the braid and one that looked like a traditional calzone pocket. Add whatever you like as filling, serve with pizza or marinara sauce on the side. Crust was so tastey, chewy but not heavy -- although my crust never got golden brown, stayed pretty pale even though it was done.

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2006
Three stars because they are easy and have basic ingredients most people have on hand. The taste was okay, the texture was way off. They were way too dense and 'bready'... my husband immediately asked, did you change the waffle recipe? (I tried these because I was out of ingredients for our usual waffles) he only took two bites and the rest went into the garbage. I found they taste best when very lightly browned and immediately buttered and doused with syrup. If you make them golden brown they are over done and way too chewy. They aren't that bad if you aren't picky, but we have waffles all the time and these just did not cut it.

Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
This cake tasted great and was so easy to make. I added 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds since I'd been craving a lemon poppy seed cake for a while. I used Mt. Dew brand soda which worked out great. You do need to add some extra baking time, I did 15 more minutes and my cake was perfect. It is so moist and melts in your mouth.

Cottage Cheese Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
I decided to follow this recipe exactly and agree with the majority that you need to use less yeast. I had some extra cottage cheese to use up and this bread did the trick. I will use this recipe again for sure, just use less yeast. Taste & texture = five stars, but I'm giving four because this recipe will not work with a 2 lb. bread machine without overflowing :( This is a very tastey, moist and light loaf with such simple ingredients, wonderful flavor!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
Wonderful! This is the best coffee cake I've ever made. I followed the recipe exactly, and next time will double the cinnamon brown sugar mixture. It is so moist and just perfect warmed up with a glass of milk. YUMMY! I used an insulated air bake 9 by 13 cake pan and had to add an extra 15 minutes on to the baking time -- it came out perfectly!

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
This was WONDERFUL! Soooo yummy, creamy and cheesey and delicious! I did modify the recipe a bit, no meat, no onions or garlic, and no rosemary. We did use about a teaspoon of onion salt and garlic powder and I also sprinkled on some Italian herb blend. Next time I will use one cup of sour cream and one cup of cottage cheese. I also used 8 oz. of provolone slices (a whole bag), and a whole 2 cup bag of mozzarella cheese. Thanks for this rich and tastey recipe!

Grandma's Homemade Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2006
This was a pretty good banana bread recipe. I did add one extra banana I had to use up (4 total). Nice mild banana flavor, moist, not crumbly, tastes great warmed up with some butter.

Basic Fondue

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2006
I followed some of the reviews and used beer (a bottle and a half) in place of the milk. We also used a combo of cheddar, colby, jack, and mozzarella cheeses since that's what we had on hand. I think the cheeses we used made it a bit stringy but all in all it was pretty good for our first attempt at fondue. I plan to use this recipe again, following the recipe and using milk and cheddar...I will also half the recipe since it made way too much for our dinner party of four. This is a great recipe with on hand ingredients, thanks for posting!

Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
This is a wonderful recipe! After I started I realized I was almost out of bread flour so I used 1/2 cup bread flour and 4 cups regular flour (for a doubled recipe) and it still turned out perfect!! I got two cookie sheet (approx 16 by 12) pizzas and the crust was crispy and chewy, my husband and I both loved it. I will use this recipe again for sure!

Banana Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
This was a great simple banana bread. My husband loved it! I doubled the recipe and added two extra bananas (one per loaf) since I wanted to use them up. Didn't add the nuts since hubby doesn't like them. Overall great mellow banana flavor, not too sweet, and you really "know" it's banana bread -- not banana with a zillion other flavors bread.

Potluck Pan Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
Made these for Thanksgiving and they were wonderful! I just put the ingredients in my bread maker to make the dough and followed the rest of the recipe. These are the best rolls I've ever made! They taste almost like Challah rolls mmmmm! The only thing is they need to be served warm, once they cool down they are nothing special. Warm each one for 10 seconds in the microwave before serving -- tastes great with butter and raspberry jam! I don't know about serving these in a bread basket because they need to be served very warm.

Pumpkin Roll II

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
Oh wow this was wonderful! Among pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and choclate cherry cheesecake, this Pumpkin Roll was everyone's favorite dessert this Thanksgiving. I too loved it and the filling is so yummy, I was scraping the bowl to get it all! ~~~~ I forgot to add the walnuts to the cake so I just tossed them in the filling and that was perfect, I think I will do that next time also. The filling is not too sweet, just right! I got so many compliments. My one suggestion is use a lot of powdered sugar when dusting your cloth before rolling. I skimped a little on the edges and my roll was almost stuck!! But it came out just fine and was really easy to do. I put my roll right in the freezer for about an hour to let it set up and then stored it in the fridge until serving, wrapped tightly in non-stick aluuminum foil. Yummy, easy, beautiful, and quick, what else could you want?!?

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2005
Mmmmm this is the best cranberry sauce! I LOVE it, so simple, so good! I just made it (a couple days early) for Thanksgiving and kept having little tastes and it is wonderful! Last year I made the Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire from this site and I like this so much better, plus it's a lot easier to prepare. It's just perfect! I hope it sets up okay in the fridge although I like it more of a sauce consistancy like it is right now. This is the best, I won't try another cranberry sauce recipe again, maybe tweak this one with a little cinnamon or brown sugar but really, it's great just the way it's written.

Applesauce Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2005
This bread was okay, not anything special, I ended up throwing the second loaf out after I had frozen it because it just didn't sound good. I used cinnamon applesauce and so the cinnamon flavor was very strong. I used buttermilk instead of the sour cream. It was a decent bread but I'd look for a different recipe next time I want to make applesauce bread. Husband didn't care for it either.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2005
This bread was very tastey! I used 3 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar. Also did not add cloves or nutmeg since we were all out and used 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. I did add one bag of mini chocolate chips. I made two 9 by 5 loaves and one pan of mini breads (like a muffin pan but the shape of mini loaves). I took some of the mini breads to the neighbors and the loved them and wanted the recipe. We called it Halloween bread since it had pumpkin and chocolate. My husband did not like it because of the chocolate chips... Also we froze a loaf and this bread does not freeze well, it tastes best after sitting a day or two wrapped at room temperature, freezing seemed to dry it out a lot and I ended up throwing the defrosted loaf out.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
This is how I always prepare mushrooms and they taste wonderful! You can do so many things with these mushrooms, sometimes I add sour cream and make a stroganoff type sauce. You can also add them to alfredo, or top burgers with them. For Thanksgiving toss the sauteed mushrooms with stuffing. Mmmmm!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
These were wonderful and very tastey! They were so pretty with a dusting of powdered sugar. I only got 20 cookies out of my batch though, maybe they were a tad bit big but they looked just right. I also only ended up using 1/4 cup of jam since that's all that was needed. I plan to make some more today! To add the jam into the centers you chould put it into a zip lock baggie and cut the tip off of the corner of the bag. This makes the jam dispersion nice and neat.

Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
I guess I'm the only one who didn't care for these cookies too much. Taste was great but that was about it. They are flat and I prefer puffier cookies.

Banana Loaf Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
***I first rated this recipe 2 stars and really didn't care for it, but after this loaf sat for a day or two it tasted wonderful! I can't believe how much the flavor improved in a couple of days, with the simple ingredients I will most likely make this again***
