Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2003
I would probably give this 3.5 stars if possible. It is a nice basic cinnamon roll recipe, not really like a cinnabon in my opinion. The finished product is a little dry. If you can't eat them all right from the oven they dry out pretty quick. I might make this recipe again, but next time I want to make cinnamon rolls I will try a different recipe to try to find the perfect one.

Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2003
This was pretty good although I probably wouldn't make it again. It is more like a coffee cake just less crumbly. I think adding light icing or a simple glaze would be nice. It seemed to plain without it. Also this would have been much nicer prepared in a bundt pan. It just looks like white sheet cake with no frosting, so not for company.

Mexican Bean Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2003
I thought this was pretty good but my husband hated it. I added a whole can of corn and not the peppers (hubby doesn't like them). Next time I would substitute the kidney beans for some mexican rice. That would be a lot better I think. Make sure you really like beans before you make this recipe.

Amusement Park Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2003
This was wonderful! I didn't have a skillet so I used a 9 inch glass deep dish pie plate and it worked just fine, I just had to bake it for 8 minutes longer. My husband is very picky and said that this corn bread was better than his grandma's! Now that's a compliment! I will definetly keep this as my cornbread recipe and may add some shredded cheddar cheese next time I make this. Thanks for the recipe!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2003
These muffins were pretty tasty, but they weren't as wonderful as I'd expected. My husband who doesn't like blueberries had one and thought it was pretty good, but I know that I've had better. I am still on the search for the blueberry muffin recipe that tops all other, but I may use this recipe again. It was certainly quick and easy! Thanks for the recipe.

Feta Cheese Foldovers

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2003
These weren't very good. I made them as an side with a Greek pasta dish and didn't even serve them after I tasted the first one. I love feta cheese and I've had similar appetizers that were wonderful. I followed the directions exctly and feel that something (not sure what) was definetly missing. I will not make these again, at least not with this recipe.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2003
These were not at all what I expected. They weren't soft and chewy, but they weren't cakelike either. They were very dry and the flavor wasn't anything special. I would not make these again.

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2003
My husband and I really liked this crust. It has a nice chewy texture and tastes great. I made this dough in the bread machine...which I at first thought was a big mistake because my pan was so full...but my bread maker prevailed once again. The only thing I had to do was add an extra 1/4 cup water while my machine was mixing, and the dough came out perfect. This isn't the New York style crust I'm always looking for, but very tasty none the less. We liked it better than some other pizza dough recipes on this site. Thanks for a great recipe I will probably use again.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2003
My husband and I were not too impressed by this recipe. He thought that this sauce was too sweet, while I like sweet sauces and thought it was too spicy. He gave it one star and I gave it three, so that's why it's a two. Anyway, I did not add the anchovy paste (I'm a vegetarian) and we did not have any red peper flakes (thank goodness or I probably wouldn't have been able to eat this at all). I also tasted this right after I made it and thought it was way too strong, so mine sat and simmered for a good five hours (and some salt was added) before going on the pizza. That didn't help us with the flavor. I'll keep looking for that perfect homemade pizza sauce.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2003
These are wonderful! My husband loves snickerdoodles and now these are his favorite recipe. He gave them 5 stars and ate nearly the whole batch (minus about 5) in two days and now wants more. Thanks for this keeper of a cookie recipe. I think that these would be great at Christmas time rolled in red and green sugar, but I'm sure I'll make them many times before them.

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
Thank you so much for this recipe! My husband grew up on the refrigerator biscuit monkey bread but that just doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather have something homemade and this was perfect! One hundred times better than making it with frige biscuits. I think I maybe cooked the brown sugar butter mixture a bit too long, maybe not, but it has a nice caramel flavor, yum! I just put all of my dough chunks into the sauce pan with the brown sugar mixture, gently stirred to coat the chunks, and poured it into my 10' tube pan. Wonderful results. I will use this recipe often!! Thanks again!

Gourmet Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: May 26, 2003
These were pretty good! I tried to halve the recipe, but just guessed with the ammount of potatoes, I think I used 10 small ones. Anyway, this yielded so much that I had to use an 11' by 7' baking dish and was wondering if the whole recipe would have fit into the 9' by 13' ... I also had a little bit of spillage in the oven (not too much though) This taste was nice and my husband said, four stars. I omitted the onion due to personal preference. Also I sliced my potatoes, scalloped style, instead of cubing them. I liked this recipe and would make it again, seems good to bring to a get together. Thanks for the recipe.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 26, 2003
I prepared this dough in the bread machine, then added a bit more flour and spread it into a 12' by 17' rectangle pan. I then let it rise for an additional 25 minutes, before topping and baking it. This was a pretty tasty pizza crust, but it wasn't quite what I expected. I'm still on the search for a New York style pizza crust, and am beginning to wonder if I will have to wait until my next trip to NYC to taste that yummy crust. Just a note, even though I used a very large pan this crust was really, really, think, you could probably cut it in half and make two giant 12' by 17' pizzas. My husband gave it four stars. Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: May 26, 2003
This is the worst recipe I've tried off of this wonderful site. I consider myself pretty skilled in the kitchen, and these were terrible! I followed the directions exactly and all I ended up with was a big mess. I love Swedish pancakes, I've had them many times, and I've had them in Sweden while on vacation...these were a sorry excuse for Swedish pancakes. Sorry to be so negative, but what a waste.

Apple Yogurt Pancakes

Reviewed: May 25, 2003
I thought that these pancakes were pretty good. They were not at all hard to prepare and I liked the overall flavor. I thought that adding 1/2 cup sugar to the batter made these ten times better. They tasted pretty sour with out it. My picky husband said he would only give these 3 stars. He didn't like the actual pieces of apple in the pancakes, but that is one of the things I did like about this recipe. I don't think I'd make these again, but there are plenty of leftovers I will enjoy. This recipe made 15 very large and fluffy/thick pancakes for me. Thanks for the recipe!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: May 24, 2003
This was a nice corn side dish that my husband and I both enjoyed. At the store I only found 7 oz. bags of cornbread mix, but that didn't seem to mess up this recipe at all. I also only had an 8' by 8' pan and this baked up perfect golden brown in that pan. The only downfall for me in this dish is it was a bit eggy. We like our corn casserole a little dryer in the middle, like Chi Chi's yummy side dish. This was a tasty recipe but I think I will keep looking for the perfect corn casserole for us. Thanks for the recipe!

Applesauce Doughnuts

Reviewed: May 24, 2003
These were my first attempt at making doughnuts and they turned out nicely. My husband really liked them and has been snacking on them all day. They weren't quite as appley as I'd expected and I think that they would taste better rolled in a cinnamon sugar mixture. I had a hard time dropping them into the oil as perfect doughnut holes, so some of mine were a little mis-shapen but oh-well. I think I may make these again, probably in the fall when apple cider is in season. Thanks for a nice recipe!

Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: May 24, 2003
These were so tasty, thanks for the recipe! My picky husband who has never tried sweetpotatoes liked them, which is a real compliment! I will definetly be making these again. Give this recipe a try and you'll be glad you did!

Italian Herb Bread I

Reviewed: May 23, 2003
This bread was so tasty! Thank you very much for the recipe! I put the ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed in the recipe, and used the bread machine for the dough cycle. After it was complete I made the bread into a braid and baked it in the oven. It turned out large and lovely. I did halve this recipe and use parmesean cheese instead of the romano (didn't want to run to the store). That was the only change I made and this was perfect, will try romano next time its in the fridge. My husband came home from work just as I was taking it out of the oven, we had a slice and he said, "wow this is better than Subway bread," :) This recipe is a keeper!

Cheese Fritters

Reviewed: May 22, 2003
These are terrific! I will definetly make them again. One tip so you don't make the mistake I did - don't make the dough balls too big. They don't cook in the middle, leaving a creamy center, which is still good, but not how they are supposed to be. Also make sure, as with all oil frying, that your oil it hot hot hot! That way they won't be greasy. These were so tasty, not heavy or greasy at all, and my picky husband who rarely tries anything new even liked them! Thanks for this great recipe!
