About this Cook
I am mom to four adult children and 4 step-children. I work full-time at a job that does not inspire or challenge me but has great benefits. I'd rather be in the kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake, except for pies because I don't have the pie crust thing down pat. Mostly I like to make complete meals with new recipes for my family. They're a great testing ground.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas candy was a big thing in my family when I was growing up. And my mom makes great overnight rolls; has since I was a kid. Now, everyone gets their choice of a birthday dinner and dessert.
My cooking triumphs
Finding out that homemade soup was not so hard. Now I make it often; all kinds. And learning to bake bread was a huge thing.
My cooking tragedies
I've only had a couple things turn out inedible but that's probably because I haven't been too adventurous trying complicated recipes. As I do, I'm sure there will be spectacular flops along with successes. I'm catering my son's wedding reception this fall (including cake), so wish me luck.

Sesame Green Beans
These were the first fresh green beans that I've ever liked. Delicious. I steamed mine about 12 minutes, 10 minutes seemed a little too crispy.

Navy Bean Soup I
I am not a fan of bean soup of any kind so this is from my husband. Great soup! I did not have garlic salt so just used two cloves of garlic and it was fine. He had two bowls for dinner and took some in his lunch today. It smelled great all day. Thanks.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust
My family really likes this crust. It does make for a thick one, though. It would also be good shaped into breadsticks.
