Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Very, very good. Thumbs up from my husband and kids. So much better than a box mix, and very easy and quick to make. Excellent when warmed and topped with whipped cream. Thank you!

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I have never given a bad review before, but I can honestly say that if I could give negative stars here, I would. This was cloyingly sweet. I was expecting it to be sweet because of the ingredients, but this was so sweet it was sickening. The addition of the orange juice was much too overpowering. Don't make this.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
This is the best sugar cookie recipe ever. It is easy to work with, and the cookies come out having the perfect texture and taste. I will never use another cutout recipe again. We made these last year for the first time, and look forward to making them again today! Thanks so much, Jill!

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I wish I could give this 10 stars. Like some other reviewers, I have always used canned icing, just because making it myself intimidated me. This was quick and easy, and so delicious!! My daughter wanted an angel food cake for her birthday, and this icing was wonderful on an angel food cake. People were coming back for more, and within minutes the whole cake was gone. I will never purchase another can of icing again. Thanks for sharing this!!

Gourmet Guacamole

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I love this stuff!! I make it all the time. My 12-year-old son loves it, too. He and I can finish off the whole recipe in a very short time. The best part is how easy it is to make. Also, you can customize it by trying different types of salsa. I have been using the Trader Joes's pineapple salsa, and this gives it almost a sweet taste. Try this recipe. It's really, really good. Thanks, April!!

Beef Fondue with Sauces

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
These sauces are incredible!! We fondue fairly often with our kids, and always had a hard time finding the "perfect" sauces...usually resorted to jarred horseradish sauce. The curry sauce is my personal favorite, as it reminds me of the curry sauce I am so addicted to at the Melting Pot fondue restaurant. Thank you so much for posting these!

Jeanne's Chocolate Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
Thank you for this gem of a recipe!! I will make these every year for Christmas, and probably at other times too. They have the perfect flavor and consistency! My kids love them, too. I actually had to lock them away in my pantry yesterday because they wouldn't stop eating them. I thought they were good yesterday, right after I made them, but I must say after they sat all night they got even better, for some reason. Now I can't leave them alone, either!!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2006
This is really, really good. I usually make a tortilla soup that I got off the Kraft Foods website which we have always enjoyed, but my family has requested that this be the recipe I use from now on. As the submitter stated, do not be put off by the list of ingredients. It couldn't be easier. Just throw it in the crockpot and you are done. Like some of the other posters, I put my chicken breasts in frozen, and then pulled them out later to shred. Wonderful on a cold night here in Minnesota!!

Easy Potato Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2006
This was excellent soup. It will be made often in our house, especially with winter approaching. I made it for my husband, my teenage son and myself for a late dinner, as I know my younger kids probably wouldn't like it. My son ate FOUR bowls of it!!! We all loved it. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of using chicken broth rather than plain water. Served it with crusty french rolls. I noticed some of the previous reviewers said it was "too bland". We thought it was very flavorful!! And the aroma while it was cooking was amazing. I used Farmland Polska Kielbasa for the sausage, and it gave the whole dish a nice smoky flavor. The texture was perfect with the 3/4 cup of the potato flakes. Thank you for posting this gem!

Quick and Easy Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
This is one of my family's favorite dips. Sometimes we top it with lettuce, tomato and black olives too, which is really good. Lots of times I make this to serve on the side when we grill hot dogs or hamburgers. Really good on a hot summer day!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I have made this recipe, exactly as written, several times now, and have also passed it on to my mother-in-law. It is so flavorful and good! One of our family's favorites, and one of the few things that everyone will eat! It does make a lot...our family of 6 hardly puts a dent in it. It is quite rich. It heats up well the next day and makes for great leftovers. YUM!!!

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Makes-you-want-to-lick-the-bowl good! I can't believe I never thought of it to top a baked potato. That has to be out of this world....

New Orleans Barbequed Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
I'd rate this one ten stars if I could. It was incredible. It reminded me of Pasquales Manales (sp?) bbq'd shrimp, in New Orleans. We dipped french bread in the sauce (which I doubled), and I also made white rice on the side and we poured the sauce on that, too. Great with a green salad on the side. My 10-year-old son was eating the leftover shrimp COLD the next day!! I tasted it and it was awesome!!! This recipe will not disappoint. Thanks for sharing it!!

Creamy Potato Pork Chop Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2006
I have been making this recipe for lots of years. It's a favorite of my husband, me, and a couple of our kids. It is very tasty. Depending on your oven, and how "done" you like your potatoes, you may have to let this bake a bit longer. I usually bake it for at least an hour, but we like our potatoes to be very tender.

Pecan Turtle Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
Someone gave this recipe to my sister many years ago, and she shared it with me. We both have been making these ever since. They are SO good!! I always get rave reviews and requests for the recipe, no matter where I take them. The best part is that they are so easy and they take very little time. Try these.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
This was so good!! The only thing I did differently was subbed corn for peas, only because my son doesn't like peas. One of the best parts was how it smelled when it was cooking. I have been told by my family that they want this as a staple this winter. Thanks Claire!

Meatball Grinders with a Yummy Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2005
This was a huge hit at our house! My oldest son ate TWO of them, and we used hoagie rolls that were quite large. We made them exactly as the recipe states, and the whole family loved them. Very good with just a simple green salad.

Cold Macaroni and Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2005
YUM! I grew up on this stuff, and have been making it for years. I personally would love it with the tuna, but my husband won't touch it so I have to use chicken. It's still delicious. My picky children won't touch it, but that just leaves more for us!! If we have it for dinner, it tastes even better the next day for lunch. This recipe is really good just as is. Sometimes I will throw in shredded cheese, or seasoned salt or lemon pepper or whatever. It just depends on how I feel. What it is is a good, simple recipe to have on hand. Nothing gourmet, just simple. Wonderful on those really hot summer evenings when the last thing you want to do is cook (although we eat it year-round). It takes so little time, and if you make it early in the day, dinner is done!! That way it will be good and cold by the time you sit down for dinner. Really good with fresh fruits on the side, as well as the cracker assortment Ann suggested.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2005
These were really, really good. My husband has asked me to make them regularly, and he's picky about vegetables. I did take others' advice and did not retain any of the water. Even with doing that, the sauce is very thin, but VERY tasty. I will be making these often. Thank you!
