Oat Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
I really loved this muffin! I made a few changes from reviewers' comments. I used 1 c AP flour & 1/2 c whole wheat flour, cut the baking powder and baking soda to 1 teaspoon each, & added 2T more canola oil. I used cinnamon applesauce & topped with a little cinnamon sugar before baking. Yummy! Reminds me of the Hostess oat bran muffins ( but way better) from the early 90s that I always ate. Remember those? Thanks for awesome recipe.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Yummy! I'm not even a big fan of rice pudding, but this is delicious. I make it for my husband, and this is the best recipe I have found. This is definitely a keeper. Thanks for the recipe!

Shrimp Linguine

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2012
Delicious! This really does only make enough sauce for 1/2 lb. Pasta though, so next time I'll make more sauce, and there will be a next time. I only had half n half, but it was still good. I can't imagine how yummy it would taste with heavy cream. I love the fresh herb taste. Thanks for posting!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
Delish! I had boneless skinless thighs to use up, and used this recipe exactly, used bold and spicy A.1. Steak sauce. I ended up marinating them (1 1/2 the recipe) for 32 hours, was only supposed to be 8 hours, but had a dinner change of plans. I thought they would be ruined, but OMG, soooo good and tender, not overpowering at all. This will be a regular meal, and I will plan on marinating for 24 hours, or at least all day long. I was very surprised how awesome this turned out. I forgot to mention that I am not a fan of chicken thighs, but this marinade worked wonders. You must try!

Banana Smoothie I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
So good! My favorite way is to use a frozen banana, no egg, no cinnamon, and 1T sugar. The frozen banana gives it a thicker consistency without having to use an egg. I know it's annoying when people change a recipe, but I had to rate it to say how much I enjoy this smoothie. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

Chef John's Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
Excellent! If you are looking for a true Maryland crab cake, look no further. This is it! I have lived in Maryland, minutes from the Chesapeake Bay for 25 years, and this is practically identical to mine (I just use 12 crushed Ritz crackers, no bread crumbs), but I will try Chef John's version. I'm very lucky, get fresh crabmeat all summer and Old Bay is a must, if you can get it. You must try this recipe!

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
Wow! It really worked. I had fresh eggs and wanted to make pickled eggs, and I have always had problems with the shells sticking to the shells and tearing. No one wants to eat unsightly "pitted" pickled eggs. All my eggs peeled perfectly. Thank you so much for this foolproof method.

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
Best corned beef. I am now enjoying the best corned beef sandwich (leftovers) I ever had. I cooked with one can of Budweiser beer and the rest water, and two tablespoons of pickling spice. I took out the beef when it was done, wrapped it in aluminum foil and kept warm in the oven, while I cooked the veggies in the broth. Sooooo good, even better the next day.

Coconut Pecan Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Very good! I took advice of others and added 1.5 c of pecans and 2 c coconut. I brought to a rolling boil (smacking bubbles and everything, I was afraid it wasn't going to work) for 6 minutes, stirring often, took off heat, and added pecans and coconut. Was thick right away. This is a keeper! So easy.

Yummy! I add just a tad bit more garlic, just for personal preference. Thanks so much for the recipe- I can't stand bottled dressings.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
Delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, except cut the sugar a tiny bit (used 2/3 c). Plenty sweet enough. This will replace my banana bread recipe!

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
Oh boy! I finally found the best macaroni and cheese I have ever had. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used only 12 oz. of macaroni, to make it more cheesy. It was a perfect ratio. I used 2% milk, and it worked great - creamy and satisfying. I don't know which I liked better, the crust or the filling, they were both delicious. You have to try this recipe! Thanks, Chef John!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
Delicious!! I'm still in shock that I actually baked this perfect cookie. Cookies are usually a disaster for me. I followed the recipe exactly, and I followed two important reviewers' tips: 1. I made sure the eggs were room temp. 2. The melted butter was completely cooled before creaming with the sugars. I didn't refrigerate dough beforehand, and they were a little flat, but that's the way I like them, but very chewy. Perfect! I can't wait to share these with my friends!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
Outstanding! I had some leftover pumpkin after making an excellent pumpkin roll (Granny Kat's pumpkin roll from this site), and the reviews convinced me to try this. I only had enough to make half the recipe, so I made 11 muffins (I like mine kind of big). I followed the recipe exactly, except I cut the sugar down a little - instead of 1 1/2 c, I used 1 1/4 c. I checked the muffins at 25 min. And they were already done. I was worried they might be dry because I may have over baked, but not the case. So delicious!! I ate two muffins almost immediately, didn't even wait until the next morning, and the flavor was already amazing. Will keep making muffins and not change a thing, except maybe add chocolate chips once for fun. Thanks so much for the awesome recipe!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
Incredible!! My husband loves pumpkin roll, it's his favorite dessert. This is the third recipe I've tried, and it's his favorite one, the search is over. For pers. prefer. I change the amount of pumpkin pie spice from 2 tsp. to 1 1/2 tsp., but follow everything else exactly. It really is easy to make, just make sure the roll is completely cool before adding the filling. To save a step, I just use a dry linen tea towel, but add plenty of sifted conf. sugar to it (generously covered). Thanks so much Granny Kat!
