My mother is the ultimate cook, one of those talents who understands the fundamentals of food so well that cookbooks are superfluous and compliments abundant. My school lunchbox was always a thing of envy from my classmates. She instilled in me a love for cooking and it's creativity and my hope is that one day I will be half the cook that she is.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking anything that offers some creativity, whether in ingredients or presentation. I especially enjoy baking, as it brings back fond memories of my childhood kitchen and the mistakes and successes I had learning from my mother.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to light a candle while I cook. It makes the experience more of an event!
My cooking triumphs
For my sister's third anniversary, I threw a surprise outdoor evening garden party for about 20 guests. I spent the entire day before cooking main courses and dessert for everyone and it was a huge success!
My cooking tragedies
I once, as a child, made oatmeal cookies and forgot the flour. My father said it was the best granola he ever tasted. He lied.

Clone of a Cinnabon
Absolutely incredible! I used other reviewers suggestions for non-bread machine baking and also combined the brown sugar, vanilla, and butter before spreading on the dough. I prepared the rolls the day before and let rest in the fridge overnight then baked in the morning. Excellent with the cream cheese frosting!

Bean Salad
I only rate this four stars because I altered the recipe. I left out the garbanzo beans and added an extra can of pinto beans. I also took other reviewers' advice and substituted the parsley with cilantro. I didn't have cumin that day so I added curry, along with a few splashes of pineapple juice. Everyone who has tried this loved it! I enjoy it added to salads for a nice kick. I will definitely make it again.

Chicken In Basil Cream
The cream sauce makes this recipe. Without adding pasta to the intial dish, I has sauce leftover that worked wonderfully as a spread on sandwiches the next day. Scrumptious!
