New York Italian Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2013
Did NOT enjoy this pizza crust. It took almost two extra cups of flour for the dough to be thicker than cake batter. The end result was so-so. I will stick with my other recipes.

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
This was quite good; I did miss the ham I would usually put in split pea soup, but it was still very rich and filling with good flavor without it.

Smokey Chipotle Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
I'm still keeping my regular meatloaf recipe handy, but this is good for a spicy change of pace!

Zucchini Parmesan

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
I loved this, but made similar changes as other reviewers. Baked the zucchini slices on cookie sheets in the oven to remove moisture, then assembled the zucchini, sauce, and cheese in layers rather than mixing it together with cheese just on top. I expect to make this often!

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
If you like cauliflower, you will like this recipe. If you don't, you may or may not like it. It's still cauliflower, don't expect any miracles!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This was OK; simple to the point of being rather plain. I made the recipe as written, but think it could definitely use some cinnamon and other spices to liven it up a bit.

Deer Chop Hurry

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
This was delicious and simple. The meat was so tender and not gamey at all. Will definitely be making this again!

Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
I had already started cooking the beans in just water when I found this recipe, and pretty much started in at Step 3, so no chicken broth. However, it really turned out delicious--the flavor was great!

Baker's Secret Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This WAS good, but not the best I've tried. Worth using for a decent pie crust.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This was SO good! Some reviewers mentioned that it was gooey at the bottom, very sweet, etc... That's what I like in a dessert! It was heavenly served warm over ice cream. I only used 1/2 cup of butter, used 1 cup of Splenda with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and had only 8 oz. of Mountain Dew. Very easy, and I'll definitely be using this recipe again!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Wonderful! We like a nice thick crust. With the pan oiled and the crust brushed with olive oil prior to baking, it also had a nice satisfying crunch when biting into it. I might play with the recipe a bit to add some seasonings, but this recipe is pretty close to perfect as is!

Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
This was SO good--it goes on my list of favorite recipes! I will definitely play with it in the future for some other variations (other types of berries, nuts, etc.) for more delicious options. I don't think I've ever made anything that tasted so much like it came from a professional bakery. As others suggested, I doubled the amount of cranberries and added a glaze. It only took 45 minutes of baking time for me. Delicious!

The Best Ugly Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This turkey was wonderful, and not ugly at all! I left the turkey uncovered in the refrigerator overnight to dry the skin. Before going in the oven, I stuffed it with the apple and some fresh herbs, then rubbed it with an herb and garlic butter. The skin was cripsy, and the whole bird was a lovely golden brown color.

Special Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
I typically go to much more trouble in making my gravy, and after using this recipe I understand why. Though it is easy, even with the turkey drippings and an excellent homemade turkey stock this gravy was just OK, not "special" by any means. Sometimes the extra time and work really is worth it!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
Very good--wonderful texture! I did use fresh pumpkin, and mixed my own pumpkin pie spice: 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp each of nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and ginger. I did have to bake the pie longer than directed.

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
This was OK--I added quite a bit of salt and sugar to give it some more flavor. I also added celery, as that's how my mom made it. Still looking for something close to my mom's recipe, though--this isn't it!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

This was good. With the five stars and rave reviews I expected something outstanding, but this didn't wow me in that way. But it was good.

CB's Black Eyed Peas

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
Overall this was really good. However, if I had followed the recipe exactly the beans wouldn't have been ready in time for dinner--I even soaked them overnight, and it still took six hours in the slow cooker on high for them to be done. I also added a lot of salt.
