Weird food pairings and funky cravings

I woke up this morning craving hummus. That's not really too "out there" because I eat a lot of hummus. Not usually for breakfast, though. It got me thinking about weird food pairings, funky cravings etc. I've had three kids, so I know cravings fairly well. I ate A LOT of pizza when I was pregnant because I was always craving salty, then sweet, then salty, then sweet. It was a non-stop tug of war on my system that I certainly paid for in stubborn baby weight. I fell into the "I'm going to get fat anyway" trap, not once but three times. During my first pregnancy, I ate an entire loaf of white bread in one day. I actually drove around with a bag of bread in the car, and ate slice after slice while running errands. I hate white bread. My doctor told me to give in to my cravings, because usually the body craves what it needs. BAD advice. The body does not need a loaf of white bread. Some of my weird food pairings have stuck with me, because they really are GOOD, but none of them are very bizarre. I do love to put my whole breakfast on a piece of toast, and eat it like an open faced sandwich; eggs with salt & pepper, bacon or sausage and toast with jam all in one bite. It's a perfect balance of salty and sweet, though a messy disaster to eat. I don't recommend doing it in a restaurant. Or in the company of others, for that matter. I've heard of some crazy ones though; barbecue chips and chocolate ice cream, dry toast with canned tomatoes (blech!), stir-fry topped with barbecue sauce. My son likes peanut butter and jelly with co-jack. I'd love to hear what concoctions others have come up with!
