Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
This recipe is just okay, and considering the cost, I wish it were better. I have made it with and without the white fish, and I prefer without, but I think I will save my seafood for better recipes.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2007
I think there is too much chili powder in this recipe, and as written it is too spicy. It needs a lot of tweaking for different spice tolerances. I think it would be better with at least half the chili powder cut out. Otherwise, it is a good easy recipe.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
Excellent! I doubled the dressing as others had suggested, but I did not toss it with the salad and let my guests dress it themselves. I added dried cranberries and doubled the sugared pecans. I think doubling the pecans is absolutely essential. Everyone raved over it. Don't skip the avacado - it adds a wonderfully creamy texture. I added a little lemon juice to the fruit to make sure it didn't brown. I used dijon mustard and gorganzola cheese. Adding this in my rotation!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2006
This is a very hearty lasagna, and I think the meat sauce could be used as an equally hearty spaghetti sauce. My husband was skeptical because I already had a lasagna recipe that he loved, but this one is going into the regular rotation, and that makes it 5 stars! I added mushrooms while browning the hamburger and onions because we love mushrooms, and I omitted the parsley - we don't like the flavor. Really good! It takes a long time to prepare, but it is worth it.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

This recipe is very good for one with almost no fat. I used egg substitute in place of the egg whites.

Cake Mix Cookies VII

I found these cookies to be best with a Devil's food cake mix. I think the yellow mix gives the cookies a funny taste, but this recipe does allow for versatility.

Chocolate Banana Cream Pie

I thought this recipe was just okay. There was too much coconut, and we like coconut, and the pudding tasted instant -there was nothing added to liven it up.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
I give a recipe 5 stars if I add it to things I cook regularly. This fits the bill. I use some half and half or heavy cream in place of some of the milk.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
This recipe replaces my beloved traditional celery and bread dressing. It is truly "awesome" and deserves that name. There is a depth of flavor with a little added sweetness to the earthy sage and sausage. I made a few alterations. I omitted the liver and parsley. I used chicken stock and regular pork sausage. I used a Fuji apple (my favorite). Yum! Definitely my new Thanksgiving stuffing recipe.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
I make this recipe whenever I have a party or have to bring a pot luck item. Everyone loves it, raves over it, and asks for the recipe. Although I am NOT good at the braiding - I make more of a loaf, it still looks spectacular. I don't egg wash it - it isn't necessary. For the holidays I have sprinkled the top with red and green bell peppers and have made a wreath shape. I always double the recipe, because one isn't enough. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
My family loves this recipe. My husband hated meatloaf before I served him this one, and my five year old asks for it again and again. The only change I made was I had to put it in a bigger pan as it wouldn't fit in my loaf pan, and I put the ketchup and brown sugar on the top. Yum! Thanks for this recipe!
