A newborn foodie!
About this Cook
I have been cooking and baking since I was very young, but I really LOVE baking. It's always been a hobby and passion of mine. Experimenting with new recipes is a sort of therapy for me, I guess. I love how I completely forget my worries and lose myself in the process. I've come to a point in my life where I'm considering the possibility of turning this passion of mine into a career. I'm still trying to figure out the details, so we'll see what develops. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love bite-sized, detailed and intricate foods! I guess that's why I love baking. I enjoy making empanadas with different fillings. I love making petit fours, cupcakes and bundt cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Considering my Puerto Rican heritage, my favorite cooking traditions include the pork shoulder with rice and pigeon peas (pernil y arroz con gandules)which is what is traditionally enjoyed for Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
My butter rum bundt cake is a drool-inducing, palate-pleasing, show stopper. Just saying! ;) I definitely have a natural talent in the baking arena. Other baking triumphs include my banana bread, lemon drop cookies, choc. chip cookies, vanilla cupcakes with different frosting's and my bundt cakes are a big hit during the holidays.
My cooking tragedies
Wow, where do I begin? Well, I've come a long way in my 10 years of recipe experimenting. Every dish that people rave over now was once a tragedy. I can't tell you how many sauces I've burnt or how many types of meat I've over-done. I've learned to STAY in the kitchen and not try to multi-task too much while cooking.
