Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Looking for a cake to make for a birthday party. This just wasn't quite right. I'm looking for a cake-mix-cake that does not taste like it is made with a cake mix. This wasn't it. However, hubby loved the cake. He said I could make it anytime. I, like many other reviewers, used 1/2 c oil and replaced the other half with coffee. I also used chocolate milk instead of water. Taste was good, but I was looking for a more dense cake, like a pound cake.

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Never tried quinoa before, but it is listed in the p90x recipe book. Used olive oil instead of butter, and used green onions instead. Excellent!! This will be a staple in our household instead of rice from now on. Nutritious and delicious. Can't ask for anything better.

Roasted Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Excellent! Made for Christmas Eve dinner to have as a healthier option to go along with mother-in-laws traditional lasagna. Everyone, even m-i-l, ate it and raved about it. Husband even said I could make this instead of traditional lasagna from now on.

Orange Fluff I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
My grandmother has been making this for years. A few tricks: use small curd cottage cheese and ALWAYS make it the night before and let it sit. We have it every holiday or get together.

Bar Cookies from Cake Mix

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
Made in a bar pan from Target (Calphalon), and they were tasty. You had lots of edges (which were the best part to us). DH said they were like a chocolate chip cookie brownie. Also, used 4 Tbsp. water and omitted the nuts (personal preference). We like the mini-chips, too. Giving it a 5 because it was SO easy for how good they taste :)

Overnight Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
I'm giving it a 5 because it was SO easy and very tasty. I divided the rolls b/w 2 9 inch round cake pans. Because of other reviews, I also added in an extra 1/4 cup of butter and brown sugar, but I don't think it was really necessary.

Something cool and refreshing during the warmer days. Nothing extravagant, so I gave it 3 stars. Probably would not make again.

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
Excellent basic recipe. I used fire-roasted tomatoes and added some basil and about 2 tsp. sugar for my taste. Used a mild pinot grigio and it was perfect! Husband tried to eat it all out of the pot on some bread, so I had to make another batch :-)

Husband LOVED them! Not crispy at all! Nice and chewy :-) I doubled the chips and added a cup of pecans too.

Spinach Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
Didn't add the water. Prepared it all except baking it in the a.m. and put it in the fridge. Baked it that evening and the sauce was nice and thick and the noodles were perfect al dente. This one is a keeper.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
Nice and moist. Made with 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup white flour, and 1/4 cup oats plus 2 T wheat germ. (Wanted to add some fiber to them.) Also added about 1/3 cup rolled oats to the topping mixture. I will definetly keep this one in my recipe box!

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
EXCELLENT!! I LOVE IT! what else can I say. I have prepared the pecans two different ways: with added water like others suggest and without. I personally think you can stick to the recipe and not use the water. I found that the pecans actually toasted up better and carmelized.
