About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Baked goods. Simple but creative vegetarian meals that can include dairy, but no meat or fish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas brunch at home. Sweet vegetarian chili on Christmas Eve. Making fresh wraps with my husband.
My cooking triumphs
I was always afraid to make a bunt cake and have it fall apart when inverting, LOL, but I love the beauty of them. So, I can happily report now that I have made several with great success.
My cooking tragedies
My oven does not always regulate temperature well, and items that were for special events sometimes burned, and I would throw them out. But we (my husband) have since fixed the oven and while it now seems to run cooler, I have come to learn how to finagle it, and all is well....usually...

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
I used butter, same measurement as the margarine. I would up the spices as I like to really taste spices, and would omit sugar rolling at the end because they were on the higher end of sweet. BUT these are easy, the texture is great, nice and soft, and the flavor is really wonderful even as-is. I highly recommend. Other reviews helped me too.

Banana Sour Cream Bread
Awesome! So delicious! Normally I am not a big fan of very banana tasting goodies, but this recipe is SOOO good!! It made more batter than I expected as I was able to make 4 loaves in the slightly larger sized loaf pans. Also, I forgot to sprinkle the cinn/sugar on the greased loaves, so I opted to sprinkle it a-top the batter just before I put them in the oven, and added a little more cinnamon to the mixture because I love it. Once sprinkled on top I swirled it with a knife. This makes the very top of the bread slightly moist as it bakes, so if you do this expect it to leave some moist crumbs when you do your toothpick check. This is really terrific, you should go for it! :-D
