Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
For something very simple and quick, I'll give it 4 stars. I've had better Szechwan, but the effort is certainly greater. I used olive oil to be healthier. I'll cook this again because it's a good balance of simple and tasty.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
Loved this. Did if for my Super Bowl Party. The only thing I'd note is that depending on your cooker size, you'll want to add either some more water or broth to cover all the meat. I used a Pork Loin and everyone loved it.

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
This is one of a few recipes I have found here that I would not change. It makes a large portion, so if you are making it for yourself one day, you'll have tons to each later in the week. Thanks for submitting this. This has become one of my favorites.

Shrimp Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Not a bad recipe. I made this last night and have a few changes. 1) Buy uncooked shrimp and cook them yourself in some olive oil in a frying pan. 2) use two small cloves of fresh garlic rather than garlic powder. 3) add one more tbsp of Old Bay. 4) Put some fresh parmesian on top. Overall not, bad, but a small tweek would make it a lot better.

Port And Mushroom Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2003
I did like this recipe, but I did change it some to get the tastes that I preferred. First of all, I think that there needed to be a little more shallots and muschrooms, but that is not a big deal and just a matter of preference. I cut the chicken breasts into quarters before cooking to make the dish a little easier to handle for various appetites. Additionally, I added a little more chicken stock, white wine, and port because I though the recipe did not call for enough of it for a good proportion. The fresh tarragon is a judgement call. I am not a huge tarragon fan, but tried it and of course I got what I expect... a nice tarragon aftertaste, but sometimes I think fresh tarragon takes away from the taste. If other people are not big tarragon fans, i would suggested maybe using a bay leaf or two. The last thing is that I added a little milk to a portion of the sauce to see who it changed my feeling and you can't go wrong with either one. If you prefer creamier sauces, add some milk, otherwise the sauce itself it fine. Thanks for the recipe Carol. I will make it again sometime.

Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
Not bad, but I have a hard time going away from Tahini. I will say though that this is a great way to get a healthier version that is still tasty.

African Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
The recipe was great, but I changed it a little to get the results I wanted. For the tomatos, i bought tiny grape tomatos and quartered them. Additionally, I did not think that there was enough curry in the recipe. I probably used about twice as much as what is called for. I also used cubed chicken breast instead of a whole chicken and there was no problem at all. For the best results, go to an asian market and buy curry there. Curry fromt he supermarkets tend to be bland. Anyway, if you can't read the lable, it's probably a good curry. The last thing I did different was that I added some cayene pepper to the recipe to give it a kick. All in all, i thought it was great and I will cook it again. My guests loved it.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
I have been buying homus for the longest time and love it. I also go to lebanese restaraunts often and love their homus, but could never find one in the stores that tasted the same. This recipe was great and it tasted like the restaraunt's, but I thought that the consistancy was a little thick and dry. I added some of the juice from the garbonzo bean can until I got the consistancy that I wanted. Anyway, it costs like $3 to buy a tiny thing of homus in the store, so this is a great way to save some money because it makes a good amount.
