Sweet Chipotle Grilling Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
This was excellent and super easy! I found the instructions on chilis a little unclear, here's what I did: buy one 7.5 oz can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, using table spoon scoop out 1 chipotle pepper and adobo sauce to fill spoon, scoop total of two chipotle peppers/sauce and blend with other ingredients. I did a taste taste and decided it was way too hot for my liking. To remedy this I added an extra 1/3 cup syrup and 1 TBS soy sauce. This made the perfect amount so I could use half for marinade and half for basting chicken after it was cooked.

Zippy Summer Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2013
This one is not a keeper for me. I followed the directions exactly and it came out looking nothing like the picture. The oil turned dark, the red pepper and paprika turned black. It wasn't visually appealing and the taste was bland. If anyone has any pointers, please share.

Peanut Butter Trail Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
These turned out really good! I followed the recipe exactly, then baked about 20 minutes at 350, cooled, then cut the bars. I'm not sure if the baking did anything. Next time I will cut the bars then bake them on a cookie sheet to see if I can get them toasted and crunchy. I froze some bars for later and they worked out really well!

Mexican Corn Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
Something fun and different! Couldn't decide if it was a salsa or a vegetable--and neither could anyone else at the party. I won't make it again for a party, but I'll make it again for myself (and my weird taste buds). Make it your own and have fun with it!

Sue's Taco Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
Something fun and different! I like cheese, but this turned out really cheesy. Next time I will double the lettuce and half the cheese.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2012
Great recipe! Proportions were perfect and it didn't turn out too spicy--I worried it would. Added bacon, peppers and onions to make it my own!

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Delectable! Combined a couple suggestions to make the Low-Sugar Cakey Version 2.1. Used only 1.5 cups sugar, used 2 tsp vanilla. Added an extra 0.5 cup flour and 0.5 cup milk to make it more cakey. Substituted almonds for walnuts. Pro-tip: I used a glass dish without grease and the brownies did not stick.

White Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
FABULOUS! I'm going to live off this recipe all winter! Followed the recipe to the T, then added a few ingredients to make it my own. Added some chili peppers to up the spice. I like my chili swimming a little so I added about 6 more cups of water. Finally, I added some liquid smoke for a great smokey flavor--this really made the meal! Great recipe for the crock pot!

Rainbow Pasta Salad II

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
This salad gets four stars for being super easy and delicious. It loses one star because the ingredient portions are wrong. A whole onion is way too much. I suggest using 1/4 onion and only 1/2 bottle of salad dressing. The fun part about this recipe is you can add ingredients to your liking. When I make it again, I'll add a couple cans of beans and a melody of veggies!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
This recipe is missing a few important tweaks that keep it from being a GREAT recipe. When following the instructions, the sauce turned out really good--I added some more orange juice to boost the "orange" taste. But the chicken was awful. This meal also takes a long time to prepare, which sucks the fun out of it. If I were to do it again, I would follow the recipe's instructions for the orange sauce and used precooked chicken chunks in place of the recipe's suggestion. This would save time, dirty less dishes, make the taste worth the work for me.

Cheese Steak Packets

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
Excellent! I've never been to Philly, but this was the best cheese steak I've had west of the Mississippi! I used hamburger, onions and green peppers. This meal could easily be prepared beforehand--it's great for a trip to the lake or a quick meal after work.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
First time making chili and it turned out great! I swapped and omitted inredients for ones I had available. The best suggestion was to buy diced tomatoes with garlic/oregano/basil already added. I put in a few different types of canned beans, half a bag of mixed frozen vegetables, and some shredded chicken to make it my own. If you're worried about running out, buy extra beans and diced tomatoes to stretch the chili
