Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
It was easy to make, especially since I am not good at making pies. I followed some suggetions and lowered the temp to 350 and also combined the sugar with the apples before placing them in the pie crust. My husband loved the pie so much he asked me to make it soon again.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
It was a great hit and I am sure I will make it many more times in the future. I followed some suggestions and had the slow cooker on low and I also added a clove of garlic. My husband loved it and he is a picky eater.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
This was my first attempt at peacan pie and I am very pleased with the outcome. I made it mainly for my husband who loves peacan pie and I got rave reviews from him. I did follow some suggestions and added the chocolate to the bottom of the pie and added the egg and peacans mixture on top. I figured that would make the bottom layer of the pie chocolate and the peacon layer on top. But during baking the chocolate mingled with the peacans on the top of the pie and my husband thought that took away some of the taste of the peacans. But he did manage to eat 3 slices of the pie, not all in one sitting and said this will be a family favorite. I might leave the cholate off next time or just use less as some suggested as well, but overall I am very happy with the outcome. And so easy even a pathetic baker like myself manged that one.

Chili Dog Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
I have to say I was surprised how good this recipe was and my husband told me I can make this anytime in the future. I did follow some suggestions and browned up the hot dogs first, and also added cheese inside the tortillas. I might add some green onions the next time and black olives. Perfect comfort food.

It was easy to make and my husband loved it. I used more blueberries as some people suggested and just had to bake it a few minutes more. Can't wait to make it again, and take to work as a special treat,

Bran Flax Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2006
I think I finally found THE bran muffin recipe for me. I left off the nuts and increased the raisins to 1 cup, and even my husband liked the taste even though he does not care for bran muffins. Will make again for sure.

Ultimo's No-Bake Blueberry Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
Easy to make and tasted great, perfekt for a hot summer day. The only change I made was that I had a pie crust at home and used that instead of making one with the graham crackers. My husband loved it and he is not to crazy about blueberries. Will make again and its just as good in pie pieces.

Very easy to make and my husband loves it too. A friend suggested soaking the raisins in rum or whisky I think I will give that a try sometime. This will become a family favorite.

Butter Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2004
My husband just loved the pound cake and he is a picky eater. However I did not use the lemon flavor since he does not care for it and instead used 3 tbl vanilla flavor. I also did not have a tube pan and ended up deviding the mixture into 2 pans. The baking time was the same and they came out looking wonderful. The next time I will use half of the recipe or try and find a tube pan. But be warned it is very rich tasting.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2004
I couldn't find chipotle sauce and ended up using chipotle salsa instead. I increased it to 1/2 cup but it did not turn out very spicey. Will spice up the meat more the next time. The meat was tender but I had to increase the cooking time to at least 8 1/2 hours on low. It did not yield enough sauce for my taste so for left overs I will add a can of spicy enchilada sauce. My husband did not like the rice with the lime juice I did not mind it so much but I will serve it with spanish rice the next time. Overall it was good but not nearly spicy enough for our taste.

Hawaiian Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2004
Very easy to make, once I realized the reason it didn't rise the first time was due to old yeast, and a wonderful taste. This one will be back on the menue for sure.
