I am a vegetarian who loves to cook with "real" foods. I'm a lifetime Weight Watchers member- so count points too! I ski, run, read and love non-traditional crafts.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with the following: pumpkin, coconut, broccoli, artichokes, black beans, and pretty much all vegetarian soups! Lentil soup is divine...
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a type 1 diabetic, so we grew up eating very healthy food. I ate tofu before it was popular, and actually used to think that shish kabobs were toothpicks with raw tofu, celery, and chick peas (what my mom gave me in my school lunches as "shish kabobs"...). Since then we have come a long way, but my mother and I still enjoy swapping healthy recipes and discussing our meal planning .
My cooking triumphs
I'm not much of a baker per-say, but I did make an excellent loaf of homemade oat/wheat bread this month... the smell of it in the oven motivated me to delve more into baking...ummmmm...
My cooking tragedies
I fail at all things in the slow cooker... not sure why. It isn't really my style of food, so that is okay- but those things are supposed to be easy!
