Frosting for German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2013
It just tasted too eggy. My family felt that the egg yolk taste was overwhelming. It tasted like a custard, not frosting. :(

Chocolate Balls

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
Following the other comments here about refrigerating the mixture before you dip the balls and using powdered sugar on your fingers to keep the balls from sticking to them was very helpful. I thought these tasted great and will definitely make them again. I discovered a few other things while I made this. -I had plenty of graham crackers so I didn't buy graham cracker crumbs. I used Honey Maid Graham Crackers and crushed them myself. 1 cup is 5 sheets (largest rectangles). Put them into a ziploc bag and break them against the counter with the sides of your fists. Then, I was requested to make a recipe that was peanut-free, so came up with the following solution instead of using peanut butter: -4 tbsp unsalted butter -half a bag of marshmallows (total of 4oz) -melt in microwave for 3 min on 60% power, mixing half way through -mix this into the graham cracker crumb and sugar mixture -use graham cracker and sugar mixture to pick up the tacky pieces and form them into balls. If you coat your fingers with the graham cracker crumbs and sugar, you can make little balls without everything getting too sticky And for both types of balls, whether I made peanut butter ones or marshmallow ones, I had a hard time keeping them on a fork or a toothpick when I dipped them. So I would put a few balls into the melted chocolate, spoon chocolate on top of them and then remove them with rubber tipped tongs.

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2012
It was quite good. I liked it, but didn't love it. But everyone in the family liked it and it tasted very good several days later and reheated well, so it's a recipe I'd make again. I took suggestions from other reviews and doubled the amount of beef. I splurged and used cubed New York Strip, which ended up costing over $30 just in beef, but it made it very tasty and tender. I also added Sriracha sauce to make it spicier.

Amazing Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
I made this twice because I couldn't believe that it didn't taste good the first time, and it got such good reviews here. I followed the recipe exactly, each time. I really didn't like it when I first made it and I thought that maybe the eggs were old. So I threw out that batch, bought very fresh eggs and tried again. I still didn't like it. I have to say that I loved the consistency. It was moist and gooey and I love that. But the taste was so bland and not sweet at all. If I'm going to eat something that's bla tasting, I'll at least eat something healthy. Chocolate cake is supposed to be really tasty or else it's not worth the calories. No one in the family liked it. I hate wasting food but no one liked it. It's only redeeming quality was that it was nice and moist.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
Very good. I wouldn't add more than the amount of cheese that it calls for or it would be too much. It tasted fantastic the first day and tasted rather good when reheated, but not as fantastic.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
It was a huge hit! Slightly spicy, but just the right amount. I added extra garlic because I love garlic and I left out cilantro, because I don't like it. It was fantastic. I've made it a few times now. If the garlic is fresh, it's amazing. If the garlic is minced from a jar, it's not so wonderful. I've also tried freeze dried garlic that I rehydrated and that tasted quite good.

Blueberry Muffins II

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
I figured homemade muffins would be better than a mix from a box but I had NO idea. They are FABULOUS and FANTASTIC and I am sorry that I went this long in my life without ever having tasted blueberry muffins this good!
