Habichuelas Guisadas

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Excellent beans. I have been trying to find a good, authentic recipe for my Puerto Rican husband and did not want to use anymore Goya sofrito! These beans tasted so fresh and the flavor was out of this world. I doubled the recipe and it was amazing. I used fivebrigs recipe for the sofrito also.

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
This was the first successful gravy recipe I have tried. I brined the turkey the night before, so I prepared the stock the night before also using the neck and gizzards. I had 3 cups of turkey stock, 2 cups of pan dripping and one cup of broth. I followed the other ingredients exactly and it was very tasty! The pan drippings also included white wine using "Perfect Turkey" recipe from this site.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
This is a really great recipe. I have been making it for about 2 years now when I have guests. If you make it exactly as written it is a bit too much onion for my taste. I have been halving it a lot recently and it works perfect in a 9x9 square pan with 4 eggs and 8 oz cottage cheese, everything else halved. I also use powdered onion instead of shredded most times. Everyone asks for the recipe!

Old-Fashioned Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
I loved this soup! It was my first time making homemade "noodles" and I loved them. They weren't the prettiest things, but tasted delicious. Next time I will try to make them smaller. The soup had great flavor though! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2006
I wasnt quite sure what to expect when making this recipe, but it turned out wonderful! It was a delicious casserole, while not being too heavy. I used whole wheat crackers instead of Ritz and is was still good. I followed the recipe exactly, except I scaled it for four. Will make again!

Arancini

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
This was delicious! I followed the directions to the T, omitting the peas and ham. I was nervous as it sounded difficult to do, but they turned out beautifully! Next time, I will cool the risotto in the fridge a bit before forming into balls and make them more "bite size" as I read to be traditional. Thanks for sharing the great recipe!!

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: May 19, 2006
I made this again last night because I loved it so much. I tried to cut the fat and used half and half instead of the heavy cream. It certainly messes up the taste and consistency! Make it with heavy cream for the delicious five star results!! It will be perfect!
