Saddest day of my life..

Mr. Man told me today he wants to start eating healthy....ugh. Healthy food. Thank goodness for this site. I found some I will try out, but my life feels so empty now. Not because I hate healthy food (I just have a passion for it, and it isn't love..) but because I just got myself a fryer. *sigh* let's be honest, nothing healthy comes from taking a piece of food and soaking it in oil and fat, but I like to think it does, helps me feel less guilty. Oh well, healthy it is. At least I still get my Pinot Grigio at dinner :-D

If an occasional fryer is on your menu, there is no problem. Just make sure you have healthier sides like garden salad and/olr fresh fruit or veggie juices. Make the unhealthy meals a part of special occasions. Be sure to accompany the new diet with at least 30 minutes of exercise.

We are both so good about exercise and eating well, but I am so southern style and love my hearty meals. It will take some time getting used to the lighter meals! :-)

Make fried veggies like zucchini, cauliflower, at least there's a veggie in all that fat and oil! ;) Seriously, like Mike said an occasional fried food won't kill you. We rarely use my fryer - but every once in a while - maybe every other month or so we have something fried. And when we do - it tastes oh soooo good!

If Paula Deen can do it, you can too! Her son has come up with some great remakes on classic Southern dishes that are much lower in fat. Don't give up the wine though!

Thank you all for the motivation! This is going to be a challenge for this girl, but who doesn't like a good challenge, huh!?

About Me
My favorite thing to do when I am not at work, is cook. I will spend hours in the day, gathering whatever I have in the house and creating new ideas. I love cooking and baking. I am 26 and I was never a very good cook, until I started enjoying it. Now everything I cook turns out great. You really have to enjoy cooking for the food to come out the best!
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are Chicken, Beef and anything chocolate!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a young girl, I grew up watching my mom cook for a big family, especially on the holidays. There are many recipes we hold dear to our hearts in my family.
My cooking triumphs
I am about to do Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner for the first time in my life. I have Nana's and mom's recipes ready to go!
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy, I cannot for the life of my fry chicken. It never fails, no matter how long I leave the chicken in, it comes out pink and kicking.
